The person who posted that message either works for AC Moore or a PR firm representing them: "her" account was created a week ago, the only entry in her journal is about the sale, and she has posted ads in many crafts communities: ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).
My favorite is this entry in phillyknitters, where someone called her on being a shill, and she was like, ohhh, ACM is just some nickname, I forgot where it came from guhurr! Dear marketers: I know your are smart people, but that means you're gonna have to work harder to act dumb in a convincing way.
Anyway, from a marketing standpoint, it's obviously beneficial to encourage people to think of a big box store as their LYS.

heh, good eye.
I will also take this opportunity to acknowledge the irony of having a typo in a sentence that criticizes someone else's competence. I know your are smart people... what can I say? ┐('~`;)┌

I've seen people in other communities who create accounts mostly to post in a specific communmity, and so their user name is pretty similar (notably in a starbucks community, where there are people like "nycbearista" and "sbuxgirl2000" and such). I don't doubt that she's just trying to promote her company, but I also doubt that she's a covert marketing agent hired by the company (maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see LJ as good mode of advertising, especially for a rather large craft chain that can afford to send out weekly circulars in the paper, and could easily afford to put an ad at someplace like knitty or magknits).
My guess would be a 17-18 year old who is really excited about her new job and doesn't really know what a true LYS is yet, and is terribly misguided in thinking that AC Moore is everywhere (and doesn't realize they do a reasonably good job advertising to people who live near their stores, and people not near their stores won't care).

Those points didn't occur to me. I held no dislike for her at all when I thought she was just an employee doing her job. I was annoyed by the prolific posting but not by her personally. But now that I realise she's just another idiot wasting space (see, the difference is she's not getting paid for it... I have a very "they're just doing their job attitude" in many things) I want to punch in her the face.
