I decided about a year ago that I would cut waaay back on my yarn-buying until I used up more of my stash. And I was rather successful, if I do say so myself. More recently, however, I realized that there's a lot of icky, scratchy acrylic in my stash from way back in my beginner days that I don't really want to use. So I emailed
Knitta, Please, a "gang" in Houston who make knitted and crocheted graffiti (think telephone pole cozies, tree sweaters, car antenna sleeves,... check out their
gallery) and go around at night tagging the city. Acrylic is great for outdoor projects like theirs because it's virtually indestructable. They said they'd love my old yarn. So I boxed up the stuff I didn't want (probably about a quarter to a third of my entire stash) and sent it to them today. And as a reward to myself, I made a visit to my friendly local yarn shop.
So I traded 15lbs 13.5oz (according to the post office scales, minus the weight of the cardboard boxes) of crappy yarn...
