kaitl asked me to do the 10 songs starting with R thing. In no particular order (hence UL, not OL tag):
- Rosa Parks, by Outkast. This was my first exposure to Outkast and it came on a mixtape from a really pretty girl I dated for just over 3 weeks, my senior spring of high school. The relationship clearly was not meant to last, but the music was. And the memory of seeing The Virgin Suicides as the only people in the theater.
- Red Eye, by Ben Kweller. I have written about this song previously. Sometimes I freak out about how much it rings true for me.
- Rainbow Connection, by Kermit the Frog. What's not to love? Previously.
- Ripple, by the Grateful Dead.
- Rebel Rouser, by Duane Eddy. One of the coolest instrumentals of the 20th Century. And by a Corningite too!
- Redemption Song, by Bob Marley. Just a good one all around!
- Ring of Fire, by Johnny Cash. My favorite (really really nerdy) memories of this song is hearing it the way a person with a cochlear implant would.
- Run Like An Antelope, by Phish. "Set the gearshift for the high gear of your soul."
- Rockafeller Skank, by Fatboy Slim.
- Rose Tint My World, from Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was always about this time in the night... oh nevermind...
I'll be at the airport by 7:30 in the morning. Hopefully I will not have any more early morning awkward run-ins with people who induce strange behavior in me. People who now get referred to by acronyms, not names. (That is an oblique reference to a recent incident that I expect about 4 of you to understand. Comment if you do, actually, I can't keep track of who knows about that.) Then I will fly
business/first class all the way home. Crying "wee, wee, wee" like a
piglet? Unlikely. More likely: snoring and ginger ale and the food issue of the New Yorker. But now, packing.
