Last weekend, I attended to the wedding of Brad Fuller & Jen Horwat. Meghan went with me, and adventures were had! The short version: We flew down to Baltimore Friday in time to grab dinner at the
Wharf Rat with
silberzauber, Leigh, Kris, and Steve. Then we headed to campus to see
The Good Doctor, the first Barnstormers show I'd seen since Fall 2004's FOAs. Very impressive stuff, kids. We called it an early night as we had to get up early the next morning. Kris drove us (after an hour in CV gathering foodstuffs) down to NoVa, where we had some issues checking into the hotel. SHAME on you, Courtyard Marriott staff. (I'm already tired of typing this up, but I'll persevere!) We got dressed, headed over to the ceremony, Brad & Jen got married, then Kris & I climbed a tree. After a trip back to the hotel room for a snack, it was reception time! AKA Open Bar! Woot! I made a new friend in the drinks line, a young lady named Sarah . She opened with "I know of you.. but we've never met before. I'm friends with
gloebug and
ridetheworld..." Outstanding move on her part! It pleased me to no end. From there we transitioned to a discussion of chemical receptors for taste... yeah something like that. The whole reception was a nicely-done affair. The DJ was a little too cheesy for my tastes, but he gave me props for my request of The Humpty Dance. I WAS THE ONLY PERSON THERE WHO KNEW IT AND I WAS SHOCKED. It's right to associate that song with Wade, right? I'm looking at you,
spin0za1. With the help of my good friends Jack & Ginger Ale, I had a grand old time on the dance floor, as far too much video evidence shows. There is also some video floating around *cough* of the bride's father and the garter-catcher having a "formal dance-off" to
SexyBack. But no, I don't have that. Anyhoo. The bride & groom got sent off to their threshold or whatever, and the dance party continued, with those chocolate liquor bottles showing up at some point. Who do you think first came up with those? I mean, they're great, but it's just a bit strange. After the reception, Kris & I walked around the hotel's "neighborhood" trying to find a CVS but we only found an on-ramp to I-95. Exactly not what we needed right then. We somehow all managed to end up in Old Town Alexandria at a karaoke bar, which somehow felt like a very strange place to be. I don't know, it all made sense to somebody at the time. Um, and then we slept. And in the morning it was breakfast at the Horwats' house, then onward to various destinations. I met up with
davelogredux and we spent the day hanging out & catching up, as we really only get to see each other 3-4 times a year now, which is sad. We later managed to meet up with his girlfriend for a late, late Mexican dinner, then Kat & Meghan met and commiserated over their boyfriends' facial hair. In the morning, Meghan & I flew back to Rochester. That's it. Picture from the wedding
are up on Flickr now. Descriptions to come as I have the motivation.
This past week, I've not done much. 110 stuff, mostly. The weekend has proved more interesting, though tiring. Friday, straight from work, Austin, Ashley, Meghan & I went to
Rohrbach's for dinner. I'd last been about 18 months back, but I do rather enjoy the place. Especially the 32-oz, $6 "maas" mugs. Then Laurel & I went over to
Dijon's housewarming party which became quite literal when the bonfire started being based on former parts of the wall! Lots of random encounters, a few familiar faces. Solid party all around. Few verbs, though, apparently. I slept in yesterday until almost time to watch the Michigan-OSU game next door, watched that, a bunch of us went to see Stranger Than Fiction (Good stuff for the most part), then a subset of that bunch went to Phillips for dessert-as-dinner. I stayed up late with Meghan watching SNL. Holy shit, it's midnight now? Today was quite the hodge-podge. I took a bath and read Men's Health to wake up, and had a WEIRD experience. My (ex-girl?in a manner of speaking)friend's mom was quoted in one of the advice columns, basically saying
the same thing as she does here. Bonus points to those of you who can make the connection. Then I did my usual Parkleigh thing, came home and wasted time until it was time for Laurel & me to
drink free wine at Marketview. We did that. We overdid that. And now my body is angry with me, and my cold is re-instating itself in my head. Damn.
Time to do something other than type.
