Update From Where?
It's been a pretty eventful few days. The sort of time when if you don't check with me every few hours, something big has happened.
Last weekend wasn't very big. I went home on Saturday, mostly because b0mberman was going to be there. We hit the Pig & Atlas, hung out with gnothi_se_auton, the Murray sisters, my senior prom date, Greg R, and all sorts of great C-town faces. Sunday, I did a bunch of t-tests, then Pat & I went up to Waneta to hang out with Katie & Ben. Lots of rye dip was involved, as well as some Yuengling-pounding. Monday morning, I came back to ROC for lizzybeth529's birthday BBQ, at which I got rather drunk and fell asleep at 7 PM. Nice work, selfy! On Wednesday, 86 hosted a clothing swap at which I got rid of lots of clothes. Probably did a 40% reduction of shirts on Friday night in preparation. This will be helpful on the next point. I came away with some good stuff!
The big news: KK and I are moving to a house near campus. It's probably not brilliant for me to broadcast my (soon) home address on the Internet, but if you're stalking me, uh, find a hobby. This one's too easy. We need a 4th roommate for a small bedroom, so if you know somebody interested, let me know asap. We're signing the lease like now. It was a very quick process. It's the house next to 86 ("the BCS house") but closer to campus. :)
Other big news: My poster is done for ASA. What's crazy? It was about 24 hours between earnest creation beginning and ending. Then the copy center at the med school took about an hour to do the actual printing. God bless them. I'm having issues with all sorts of things about the poster & the work, but that's what drives research. And besides, it's my first poster of my very own, so I can't be expected to do everything right the first time. (My last poster presentation was 3+ years ago at CogNeuro in New York, and I barely contributed to the physical poster's creation.) Give me a few hours to do laundry and pack and make granola, and I'll be good to go. Gas is at 2.88 at Delta Sonic with carwash, which seems like a prudent combination to prepare for the trip. Funny stuff: I cleaned out my car today (more later on that) and besides the gross stuff I had piling up in the backseat, I had 5 ice scrapers in the trunk. That's excessive. That's on top of the 25' of Cat5 I keep back there, the random sock, and whatever else. Eesh.
The CVS Symposium's been going on for the past 2+ days, so I've been sitting in one room listening to talks. Okay, part of that time I've been in the atrium working on my poster, part of that I've been in said room but diddling with Buckminster (the new laptop). After dinner at Chen's with antinats, glynis32, jisalynn and AuF tonight, I went out to MacGregor's on Jefferson with a few visitors from that other BCS department including a former TA. (I had cleaned up the car quickly in the expectation I'd be chauffeuring a few of the visitors.) I picked up jisalynn and hubcap_annie on the way there, then antinats and AuF met up with us, as did KK & Sternick. Rather good times were had. I think I paid for just one beer all night? Such hospitality from visitors!
My iPod is not working with Buckminster, and that's kind of annoying. Especially given the Sunday travel with the stranger/ASAer-from-Buffalo and my promises of musics.
