14. Kaylee/Inara (Firefly)
1. why do you dislike #11 so much?
I don't dislike it, it just doesn't do anything for me. Hobbit slash is....just not my cuppa. It seems too fluffy and domestic for me, which I'll freely admit might be nothing like what the stories really are like. I've never actually tried it, and I probably never will, as it comes close enough to almost squick me.
2. Who is someone you know that ships #13?
Hehe.
laurelgardner You want to put her into an immediate dazed stupor, just say "Sofia's holster" to her. She won't speak again for a good long time.
3. What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3?
Well, for starters, Sirius needs to be, and STAY alive. That would help. With this scenario, it's all about the scrummy H/C. Rowling's doled out more than enough hurt to both of them, so my favorite stories take place post Azkaban, preferably during the "lie low at Lupin's" period. The two need some time for bonding, forgiveness, healing, and playing. Oh, and lots of sex.
4. Which is your favorite episode for #1? Try to pick just one.
Oh please. "Grave Danger." Gotta be. That's THE moment for that pair. "So...he is your guy?" "Yes, he is!" and "Pancho! Put your hand on my hand." EEEEEEEE!!!! And then the tape, and the lip-reading, and Gil loves his boy SO MUCH, and Nick worships the ground Gil walks on, and they're both so guarded it's tragice, but the LOVE, OH THE LOVE!!!!
5. How long have you been following couple #6?
Oh, about a year now. In fact, news of that pairing is what made me start watching the show. And the writers are such delightful teases!
6. What's the story with #8? What made you stop liking them/caring?
My standards in fic rose. There are still one or two stories out there that I like and re-read on occasion, but mostly I got so irritated with Smug!Superior!Jareth and Petulant!Sarah that I just couldn't take it anymore. And is it just me, or does the vast majority of het sex really blow? Why is a well-written scene so hard to find?
7. Which ship do you prefer - #2 or #4?
Oh Mal/Jayne. Partly because it's shiny (heh...shiny) and new, and partly because there are so many challenges to overcome in that one. Jayne really isn't trustworthy, despite having honestly good intentions much of the time, and Mal isn't inclined to trust people period, let alone someone like Jayne, but they're so GOOD for each other in so many ways. Mal's just hard enough on Jayne to make him want to be a better person, and Jayne offers Mal companionship without expecting him to be anything other than what he is (something Mal sorely needs). Together, they would become better, healthier people.
8. You have the power to make one ship non-existent. Choose from #10 or #12.
If the Star Wars prequels had never happened, the world would be a better place. I wanted to like those stories. No, I wanted to LOVE those stories. Vader is my favorite character EVER, and I wanted to see how he was made, and then the movies came out and it was so...LAME!! It makes me weep to think of it.
9. What interests you about #14?
Femslash. Not usually my thing (you'll notice that both my piqued interest pairings are femslash). But from the very first time we see Kaylee and Inara on screen together ("Hey you." "Hey you.") that pairing just writes itself!
10. When did you stop liking #7?
I still like it, and I liked it from the minute Mara Jade appeared in the books. But, as with Sarah/Jareth, the writing just hasn't done it for me. I loved Zahn's books, but everything else I've read in the extended universe has just come up short.
11. Did your waning interest in #9 kill your interest in the show?
Oh HELL no! I just found other flavors that I preferred, is all. I'll still read Gil/Warrick with nary a complaint, but good stuff for that pairing is hard to find.
12. What's a song that reminds you of #5?
"The Garden" by Collective Unconscious. And since almost no-one reading this will know the song, here's a snippet:
"I went back to the garden that used to be ours. Wild with life, washed of old scars. There were blooms on the trellis, and a sweetness in the air. And the best part of us is still buried there.
They gathered round, drawn by the sound of a good love dying, there it is lying still on the ground."
13. Which of these ships do you love the most?
Gil/Nick. Even the pervading crappyness of the show can't make me stop loving that one.
14. Which do you dislike the most?
Twincest (Fred/George). Tops my squick list. Tried it once, and I'll never go back. But hey, if it floats your boat, perv away, folks!
15. If you could have any of these two pairings double date, who would it be? (even better if they're from different shows)
Gil/Nick and House/Wilson. Oh the snark. And the blushing from Nick and Wilson as House says things that are SO far from appropriate and Gil's mouth just twitches because he's amused and he knows he shouldn't be.
16. Have #2 kissed yet? Elaborate if you'd like.
Oh dear me, no. And thanks to the infinite wisdom of the Fox network, they will probably never get the chance. Besides, Jayne has that whole "not kissing on the mouth" thing which is so fun to work around.
17. Did #4 have a happy ending? If the show hasn't ended yet, do you think a happy ending is likely?
I'd say so, yes. And there was hand-holding, even! Aziraphale can go on for all eternity calling Crowley "My dear boy."
18. What would make you start shipping #14?
If someone recced me really good fic. I find a lot of people have problems writing Inara, and that would muck up a story really fast.
19. If only one could happen, which would you prefer - #2 or #6?
Mal/Jayne. Mostly because of Mal. Or maybe because of Jayne. I just love those two to pieces. Not to say I don't love House and Wilson to pieces, cuz I do, and House is my new Woobie of the Year, but Mal and Jayne just make me melt. And there's the whole gun thing. That's just hot.
20. You have the power to decide the fate of #10. What happens to them?
To be honest, I don't really care. They can fly off on their broomsticks and fuck each other to pieces for the rest of their lives for all I care. Just so long as I don't have to watch.
