A Dad's Prayer

There's been some rumblings lately going on.

Rumblings of things upon the horizon, of things yet to come. Changes occurring as our youngest daughter sprouts her wings and leaves the nest since it's here turn to head off to college/university in the fall.

I'm not looking forward to this since it means that the last of our children has indeed grew up and into a young lady and she's heading off to seek her fame, fortune and life in another part of the country away from home.

It only seems like yesterday that all my girls where home under the same roof, arguing about things trivial. Yelling and screaming at the television scream as they all sit around and played Mario Party together. Now, my youngest is in her final semester of high school and I've been reflecting back on the times when all my kids were just kids and I marvel on how fast that time seems to fly by since then.

My eldest is adjusting to life in her new abode in Ottawa, she's currently in her third program of college and she's been working at the same place for a couple of years to supplement her income. My middle child is in her second year of her course in North Bay, ON. She's been having ups and downs but I'm seeing her mature into a young lady that is facing her challenges with determination. Sure there are setbacks and roadblocks that pop up but she's not letting that get her down. And, now my youngest is hearing back from colleges she applied too and she's been gearing up for the big move in September.

That old saying "the more things change the more they stay the same" may apply to work or political parties but it certainly doesn't apply to life.  Changes are indeed changes and even though they might look the same, it's not. It's just an illusion of looking the same.

A book is finally ending, and it's just the precursor of another book that will be written and a new story to be told as well. The future is all not dark and scary, it's a candle lighting the way to the unknown.

life, personal
