I'm Hungry

Just over two years ago I had gastric bypass surgery. Part of the recovery is that it takes a long time to be able to eat certain foods again. For example, chicken made me very sick until about six months ago. It still does, if it's too dry. I still can't eat certain cuts of beef. Needless to say this has made me somewhat picky about what I eat.

About a week ago I got a craving for a good turkey dinner. Every Thursday Cracker Barrel runs a special on turkey dinners. Well, because of circumstances beyond my control, I was not able to get to Cracker Barrel last night and I had been waiting all week to eat there. To make matters worse, they don't do turkey any other day of the week so I have to wait until next Thursday.

I looked at the menus of several area restaurants to see if anyone else offers a turkey dinner. Perkin's Restaurant is the only other place that offers a traditional turkey dinner, but for the last decade or so the local Perkin's has not had the best food. It has become one of those places that I avoid. I was tempted to go there anyway, but I know that a cheap knock-off would make the craving worse not better.

Why can't we have a decent family style restaurant were you can get a good "homestyle" meal? We had Chinese food last night but it wasn't what I was wanting so it was rather disappointing. I just finished some of the left-overs and I'm still hungry. Not because I not full, but rather because I'm not satisfied. I'm hoping this feeling will pass. I don't want to feel hungry for a week.
