more than a week ago, on april 16th 2009, i went to go see a bunch of bands at ricoh coliseum. here is the breakdown:

when i first got there some shitty ass band called municipal waste was on. im not even going to bother wasting a paragraph on them because they were absolute shit. i got to the arena pretty late too and figured they would of played already. this was not the case. how disappointing. more on this later.

after municipal waste, i was expecting god forbid to come on. ive heard these guys were a pretty heavy band so i was looking forward to seeing what they were all about since i've never heard their music before. also, the old guitarist from darkest hour was filling in as a temp-guitarist and i wanted to see him. kris norris people, look him up. but as i lay dying came on instead which was a bit of a surprise. turns out, god forbid actually went to FIRST, because stupid municipal waste had technical problems and couldn't go on first.

anyways AILD was awesome as usual, this is my fourth time seeing these guys. so it was more or less the same thing. children of bodom was on next! i was looking forward to seeing these guys and they did not disappoint. this european bands doesn't come to toronto quite as often as some of the american bands so it was a nice treat to see them. they had incredible energy and sounded awesome. too bad i didnt know most of the songs they played. their set-list consisted of a lot of older songs. recognized a few good songs so it was good!i will probably check out some of their older material.

lamb of god was on next and boy were they ever epic. stage was nicely setup with a nice backdrop and plenty of cool lights. i know this stuff shouldn't be important, but lamb of god is an arena band now so i expect these little extras from them. their set was awesome. they played plenty of songs including a bunch from their new album. new songs were okay, definitely enjoyed some of the older songs more. all in all a very good show. everyone in the band sounded awesome, especially randy. had no fatigue whatsoever in his screaming voice. was worth the money!

on a side note, this was the first concert i went to by myself...well only for the first half of the show anyways. ricoh coliseum is nice because there were seats and it was not packed so it was awesome to sit back and relax during the openers. this is also probably the biggest metal show ive ever been to. it's incredible how many black tshirts were worn at the show! i wore a grey shirt =P.

anyways, that's all for now. mastodon and opeth are coming next week but i wont be able to see them...=( BAH! next up this summer is edgefest (yes, i know edgefest) and SLAYERRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
