the stills @ lee's palace

Nov 25, 2007 15:08

it's been a while.

last night i went to go see the stills at lee's palace. it was great. i had a really good time. i went with antina, amanda and jeff.

this concert was a lot of firsts for me:
- first 19+ show
- first time at lee's palace
- first time seeing a non-hardcore band (in a while -- last was dismemberment plan with andrea!, like 5 years ago...lol)
- first time going to a concert with non-regular-music buddies (IE paul)

this band called super little opened for them. holy crap, i thought i was going to die of boredom. don't get me wrong, the music was okay, but it was just so mellow, and i felt like the band lacked energy and enthusiasm. the singer was sitting on a chair and playing guitar. not cool.

anyways, the stills didn't get on until late. they came on around 11:45pm. this was their 2nd show in toronto in two nights. they came on with a ton of energy and excitement. when you see bands like that, the energy just transfers into you and fills you up. the crowd was pretty good. it was a 19+ show. there were some random old people. people who were old enough to be my parents.

anyways, the stills played a GREAT set. they played tonnes of stuff from logic, a bunch of new songs (which sound great by the way) and some stuff off without feathers. overall it was a great show. i haven't felt so good about a show in a long time. the venue was nice and small, so it was a very intimate experience. the band had lots of energy, you could tell they were genuinely excited about playing. i DEFINITELY want to go see them again. the only downside to the set, was they didn't play changes =(. but that's ok, i had an awesome time!

next up - thrice !!!

ps. happy birthday paul
