Project notes

Yesterday, despite lack of ambition, I finally managed to plant the remaining sedum, complete with landscape fabric & mulch. They look a little scrawny just now, but if they fill out like the others did, that little bed that juts out into the driveway will actually look like a feature. Thanks again, otterwort, for ground-clearing and plant assistance.

That was about it for yesterday. I fiddled with the drywall a bit, mostly scraping paint to prepare for joint tape, but nothing of significance.

Today: Scraped/prepped the rest of the dining room drywall, taped, and got the first coat of joint compound on. If I do say so myself, I do damned fine drywall. If joint compound coat #2 goes as well, I'll barely need to sand. (The new stuff, that is; the rest of the room is going to need a lot of prep work before painting.) Also, moved some more furniture; I'm doing that in fits and starts, as all of it at once would be a bit daunting.

I also got a strip of ice & water shield up above the slider, covering the exposed chipboard. I did kind of a crappy job trimming it, due to not being able to put the ladder where I could see the whole process, but hey, at least it's done. And whole minutes before unusually-angled rain started spitting down on that area!

And then I laid out the bits of salvaged sod where they belong, in the former day-lilly bed that's been covered with plastic for... two years? Urgh. There's far more bare dirt than sod bits, but it's a start.

I think I will take the rest of the evening off. Conveniently, the joint compound needs to dry for a day before the next coat, anyway.
