Finally, after several weeks of tiresome planning, they're making progress. The plans will be finalized soon, and then the towers will go up. And anyone who tries to stop that from happening will be taken care of.

That is, in fact, the reason for Tess' visit. To help Zod plan for security measures to keep unwelcome guests away from their precious ( Read more... )

Tess has already had the pleasure of being the 'guest' of Zod and his soldiers for several weeks upon their arrival. And she hasn't forgotten what that was like, the fact that she did so voluntarily notwithstanding. There's little, she thinks, that could shock her about them now.

Not much later, Tess and her primitive form of transportation arrive at the location. She can't say it surprises her, either, even if it's her first actual visit. She waits for the driver to open her door and then she steps out.

"Major," she nods in greeting.

That was a long time ago, and although it may not shock her, Tess may find that his soldiers are a bit more bitter towards her now. They're really not very happy about the fact that the Major would partner himself with a human. And despite the fact that they've learned not to question his judgment about such things, they would most certainly not make her feel welcome.

"Tess," he mutters, nodding back. "I'm going to spare you the tour of my humble abode, if you don't mind. We have more important places to be today."

It's a good thing she doesn't expect them to, then.

"Not at all," she replies, good-naturedly enough. Curious as she may be about their accommodations, it's not really important. "Shall I follow in my car?"

At that, a slight smile curls at his lips. "And I'll lead the way in my Kryptonian space ship, shall I?" His smile lessens slightly, and he adds, "I think it makes most sense for your driver to transport us both, if that's alright. He does know the way, doesn't he?"

"It's truly a shame that's the one thing I didn't take over in time to inherit from Lex, isn't it?" Tess quirks an eyebrow at him, indicating he can decide for himself if she's being serious or not.

Then she motions him toward the other side of the car. "He knows the way, but might I suggest you look into acquiring some form of transportation of your own? I'm not always going to be at your beck and call, even for business."

He raises an eyebrow of his own after her first comment, but he doesn't answer. Only when he's made his way to the other side of the car does he speak.

"Before yesterday, I didn't even know you were coming along. I have my own means if need be. But no need to soil this planet's environment unnecessarily." His smile returns a bit after he says it. "It would be unfortunate to destroy this world in an attempt to save it." As he opens his car door, he adds, "Perhaps I should consider doing a bit of shopping, though. My own personal car could be beneficial."

Tess just smiles to herself a little before sliding back into her side of the vehicle. "I didn't realize you were such a fan of carpooling," she muses.

"But I do agree it would be beneficial," she adds, signalling to the driver they're ready, once the Major is inside as well, of course.

He nods slowly as he slides into his own seat and they start moving. "I do admit I don't know the first thing about cars. Let alone what kind to buy." He pauses and gives her a slightly amused sidelong glance. "But I will choose one that is eco-friendly, of course."

...that's going to produce a reaction Zod very rarely gets out of Tess: Genuine laughter. Because the thought of the Major in a Smart car? Just too funny.

"Forgive me," she says after a moment. "It's-- you wouldn't get it."

Zod looks at her with surprise, rather taken aback. And while he's exceedingly curious as to what caused that reaction from her, he knows he's not going to get much of an explanation.

"Is the image of me shopping for cars really that comical?" he asks with amusement.

She nods a little. "It could be." Then after a moment of thought she adds, "Of course, you shopping for anything could be funny."

"Oh?" He smiles and gives her a questioning glance. "And why is that?"

"Because you're such a people person." Well, Tess feels better. Laughs are few and far between these days and she'll take them where she can get them.

But, back to business. "I have a meeting on Monday with someone who will definitely be able to help us in the construction area."

"Right," Zod says quietly, his smile remaining.

He becomes a bit more serious, however, after her last statement. "Excellent. Who is it?"

OoC: Wah. Must leave now. Be back in a few hours.

Composure regained, Tess turns her attention to watching the scenery outside the window as they drive.

"His name is Ryan Edge. We've done business before."
