Mocha is getting around pretty well on three legs. She makes no effort to cover her litterbox leavings now, but how could she? Anyway, these pictures are meant to give a sense of how she's getting around on three legs.

I brought Mocha back to the Ecovillage Training Center and set her up with food, water, litterbox, and chair in the greenhouse that is attached to the Inn. My room is right next to the Greenhouse, and I can hear Mocha if she cries. In this first picture, she's still wearing her bandages.

 Mocha and I have arrived safely at the Ecovillage Training Center.

 Mocha had surgery on Friday. The plan was to repair the bone so that she could keep the leg, but once the operation was underway, the doctor decided that the bone was too badly damaged to be held together with pins and that the very attempt would probably result in severe nerve damage, so he ended up amputating the leg. I'm pretty sure the money that generous souls have offered up to help pay for Mocha's vet bills will be enough, so I have removed the donate button from the fund-raiser page. I also promised to prepare more of the Boots and Mocha bedtime story for presentation in podcast form if I raised enough money, so that will be forth-coming, hopefully ( Read more... )
