For the Record

Over the last four years, I have created and made available free of charge over 230 hours of audio content. Two hundred and thirty hours. If you listened to the free C-Realm content for 16 hours a day, it would take you more than 2 weeks to get through it all.

I have put out shows so consistently that I outgrew my archive on PodOMatic. When I ( Read more... )

My laptop is old and tired. It doesn't have a working battery and overheats if I don't use a chill pad with it, so I can't sit in my truck outside of a place with wifi like I did in the past. I need an electrical outlet in addition to a wifi signal. (I read somewhere that laptops aren't mobile; they're nomadic. That is particularly true of mine ( ... )

Wow. I can't believe anyone would complain about something so trivial. Especially c-realm listeners.

"That ain't workin' that's the way you do it Money for nothin' and your chicks for free" A clear violation of the First Law of Thermodynamics, a concept I would think most of your listeners would be aware of.

I appreciate all that you do, and if I had the money for an iphone I'd have the money to donate to your show, but until then...

It may be worth it, new laptop or not, to invest about 20 bucks for an ac inverter for your truck to power your computer.

Peace

I don't want to give the impression that I'm bitching about the level of donations I receive from C-Realm listeners. I've said it regularly, but I'll say it again: I don't want donations from anybody who lacks a positive cash flow. I don't want anyone to go further into debt to support the C-Realm Podcast. The activity itself and the resulting artifact provide me with all the incentive I need to keep going.

I want to add to the voices who have already offered their support:

KMO - I can't believe that there is a single C-Realm listener in possession of a drop of humility and empathy who doesn't wholeheartedly appreciate what you do. A new C-Realm 'cast is something that I look forward to with real anticipation - more so than anything on TV or radio.

If you can off-set the costs a little by offering additional content (requiring further effort from yourself for its preparation) for a small fee, then more power to you. I don't have an iPhone (nor am I likely to get one!), but I don't feel that I'm being cheated out of anything by not being able to access the iPhone app material. I'm just happy to know that there will be another interesting discussion arriving each week. And now with extra Zombies! Bargain!!!

Keep at it KMO - it means a lot to many of us out here and we truly value what you provide us. I promise that I'll divert some of my extravagant(yeah, right!) salary your way soon.

Very well elucidated, KMO; especially regarding the sense of entitlement that some latch onto. I remember a sense of disappointment and happiness when first hearing about the iOS app. Disappointment, because I don't have an iOS device and would like access to the content; happiness, because this will provide a new stream of revenue for you, regardless of how (in)substantial it might be.

Not having researched the functionality of Libsyn (I will after composing this comment), do they allow the audio content that is used for the iOS app to be accessed by other sources? e.g., if someone were to offer their services, could they create an Android OS compatible app that would reference the same audio files? I ask these questions because I've been curious to start programming for the Android OS and if I could create an app for its marketplace that would provide another revenue stream and possibly alleviate frustration for those listeners who aren't upset with the purchase price, rather the fact that they have no access to this audio.
