Weekend food

Simchat Torah is always tricky because you never know how long Hakafot will go until or how long you actually end up staying for or, as in our case nowadays, how long the kids will last. So food is tricky.

I'm thinking of making chicken, potato kugel and carrot kugel and actually eating that before Shabbat/Chag. Then when we get home, we make Kiddush, Motzei and I'll make gefilte fish and a meaty cabbage soup. This way, Nati is well fed before we go to shul and if he wants Nosh, that's fine.

During the day, the shul is having a Kiddush (we're bringing a kilo of rugelach). I think I'll call someone to find out just how 'big' the Kiddush will be and what, if any, food will be available. The plan is whenever we get home, have Motzei, gefilte fish and salads and then have schnitzel and kugels for Seudat Shelisheet around 4ish.

What are everyone else's plans? What are you making?
