Банг-Пхра / Bang Phra
На днях второй раз съездил в заказник Банг-Пхра в 45 км от Паттайи. В прошлом году это было целое приключение: вечером доехал на автобусе до городка Банг-Пхра, нашел дорогу пешком мимо плотины, куда приезжают жители Си-Рачи заниматься бегом трусцой, в темноте обошел водохранилище, заночевал в палатке в лесу, утром смотрел и фотографировал птиц. В этот раз все прозаичнее: на мотобайке доехал до места, погулял, увидел нескольких новых для себя птиц и штук шесть разноцветных белок, ничего толком не снял и поехал домой. В 10 здесь наступает время, когда уже поздно куда-то ходить и что-то делать.
Recently I visited the Bang Phra non-hunting area, 45 km from Pattaya. The last year it was quite an adventure: I arrived to the town of Bang Phra by bus, found the way along the reservoir, where the inhabitants of Si Racha come for jogging, walked around the reservoir in the dark, slept in a tent under the trees, watched birds and took pictures the morning. This time it was much less poetical: I came on a motorbike, walked around a little, saw some birds new for me and half a dozen of variable squirrels, did not manage to take any decent picture and went home. By 10 a.m. it is already too late to go anywhere and do anything.
Заказник устроен по берегам водохранилища с плотиной, соединяющей два холма около города Си-Рача. Пишут, что раньше было много открытых травянистых пространств, сейчас они затоплены, вода почти везде подходит близко к деревьям (и много деревьев погибли от подтопления). Здесь держится много разинь и всевозможных цапель.
The non-hunting area is located around the reservoir with a dam between two hills near Si Racha. The sources say there were large grasslands near the shores in older times, now water is close to the trees (and many trees died of inundation). Many openbills and all sorts of herons and egrets live here.
Вдоль береговой линии есть мощеная дорожка, с которой видны озерки и аистиные деревья.
There is a trail along the shore, from which small lakes and storks' favourite trees are visible.
Между заказником и прудами расположенного неподалеку зоопарка Кхао-Кхиеу курсируют ключвачи (Mycteria leucocephala),
Painted storks (Mycteria leucocephala) move between this place and the ponds of nearby Khao Khieow Open Zoo.

Цапельный пруд. Цапель, правда, больше на другом пруду, севернее, у Центра разведения водных птиц, где в вольерах содержат журавлей и белоплечих ибисов.

The Egret Pond. In fact there are more egrets on another lake to the North of the Breeding Centre, where cranes and white-shouldered ibises are kept in large cages.
