Moulmein / Мулмейн
Сегодня я прибыл в Мулмейн. Здесь тихо и спокойно, интернет-кафе почти пустуют даже когда есть свет, гестхауcы дешевы, берег у подножия набережной завален дырявыми корзинами, хряпой и пакетами от еды, а в прибрежной траве копошатся камышевки.
Today I arrived to Mawlamyine (Moulmein). It's quiet and calm, internet cafes are nerly empty even when there is electricity, guesthouses are cheap, the shore on the riverfront is covered of broken baskets, loose cabbage leaves and food packaging, and reed warblers swarm in the grass near the water.
Ехал ночным поездом "экспресс", классом "upper" с широкими креслами, застрявшими в откинутом состоянии, 8 часов на двести с чем-то километров.
Можно развалиться и спать, но не выспаться. Лежачих мест на этом направлении не бывает.
Эта часть дороги провинциальная, более тихая, чем линия на Мандалай. Здесь в какой-то момент я понял, что мне напоминает ход этих вагонов - узкоколейку торфопредприятия Назия на болотах в Жихарево.
I travelled at night in an upper class coach with an express train, with wide seats stuck in a reclined position, and taking 8 hours for two hundred and something km. You can sleep, but not have a good sleep. There are no sleepers on this line. This line is more provincial and quiet than the Mandalay line. Here I understood at some point what the feel of these coaches resembles to me - the narrow gauge line of the Nasia peat extraction enterprise in Zhikharevo (that's in North-West Russia).

Here is the mouth of Salween (Thanlwin) - one of the three Great Parallel Rivers which flow down from the Tibet through Yunnan, together with Yangtse and Mekong.
