Oligodon barroni
В четверг у нас в саду объявилась вот такая гостья - сначала ее обнаружила и облаяла собака, а потом мы видели, как она проползла вдоль стены дома и спряталась в небольшой ямке под листочками. Я посмотрел по книжке и определил как неядовитую змейку Oligodon barroni. Питается яйцами и птиц и ящериц, ее держат в домашних террариумах, но содержание непростое. Пока прикидывали, как ее изловить и препроводить на природу, змейка исчезла.
On Thursday we had this visit in the garden, detected first by our dog, and then we saw it move along the wall outside the house and hide in a small depression under the leaves. I looked into my reptiles book and identified it as Barron's Kukri Snake (Oligodon barroni). A harmless snake feeding on bird and lizard eggs, some people keep it in home terraria, but it's not easy keeping. While we were figuring out how to catch it and return to nature, the snake disappeared.
А вчера объявилась снова, и снова Сунак ее унюхала, на этот раз у кухонной двери. Решение уже было готово, я взял узкую картонную коробку, открытую с двух торцов, на один надел и завязал черный мешок, а другим положил вдоль стенки, после чего слегка потревожил змейку длинной палкой. И она тут же продемонстрировала свою повадку ползти вдоль стенки и спряталась в коробку и дальше в мешок.
Yesterday Sunak sniffed it again, this time under the shed near the kitchen door. The solution was already there, I took a long narrow carton with two open ends, tied a garbage bag on one end, and put the carton along the garden wall with the open end facing the snake, and then touched the snake gently with a long stick. It demonstrated its way of moving along a wall immediately, moved through the carton and hid in the bag.
Коробку и мешок я поместил в другую коробку большего размера, и со всем этим сооружением мы проследовали на пустырь подальше от жилых домов. Как только я ослабил мешок, змейка тут же высунула голову и через несколько секунд поползла к зарослям.
Then I packed the box with the bag into another carton, and we marched with this contraption to a vacant lot behind the next village, beyond visibility from the other houses. As soon as I lossened the bag, the snake sticked its head out, and in a couple of seconds it was already moving to the bush.
А в траве ее и не увидишь уже.
And in the bush it is almost invisible.
