Ну что, услышал ли сегодня кто-нибудь из живущих в России фразу "...в Магадане 23 часа, в Петропавловске-Камчатском -- полночь"?
With this post I am asking my readers living in Russia if they heard the phrase "... it is 11 pm in Magadan, and it is midnight in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky" today.
Russia returned to nearly full Soviet-time timezone configuration today, with time difference of 9 hours between Moscow and Kamchatka peninsula (a separate time zone for Chukotka is missing, but Kaliningrad region, on the contrary, has a timezone of its own). At Soviet times, the time in all timezones of USSR was read aloud on the air by Radio Mayak public medium and long-wave station at 3 p.m. Moscow time (midnigt in GMT+12). I remember this as one of the symbols of the country's greatness for some Soviet people.
Will we trust that USSR is back because the 9 h time difference is back?
