Its so funny that when people experience big things, they always say that there are no words to describe it. But here are mine:
INCREDIBLE, LIFE CHANGING, AWESOME, AMAZING, POWERFUL, INTENSE
there are so many more to describe my weekend in Panama City at Gulf Coast Getaway, but these are enough for now. they just keep running through my head over and over!
I am so proud of Emily and her recommitment to Christ. The most impacting thing that was said this weekend was this: "I dare you, I double dare you, that when someone asks you to tell them about Jesus, that instead of saying ok, you tell them to follow you around for one week and have them tell you about jesus."
Could i really do that? I dont think so. I think that Jesus is in a lot of my life. I hope that people can see Jesus in me, but it scares me to death to think about someone following me around for an entire week. My commitment and my challenge to myself was to cleanse my mouth. to watch the things i say to people and about people, even if its not hurtful, the things i say to myself, and to encourage and be more attentive to the freshman.
I agree with Marshall. We do need to grow up. We need to begin cleansing our minds and our hearts so that we can become men and women of God. so that we can be godly spouses, godly parents, godly friends.
here is something i shared in an email to the csc this morning!
God is working so powerfully in our ministry that it is hard to keep up with Him! This was an amazing weekend. The worship was wonderful, the speaker was awesome, and the fellowship was incredible. My favorite part about this weekend was our Saturday night share time. A consistent theme was the message of family. The openness of everyone to share whats on their hearts and ask for prayers and know that they will be covered in prayer and loved anyway is the true meaning of the body.
My prayer for us is this; that we will walk away from this weekend renewed and transformed. Last semester God far exceeded our expectations, and i am convinced that he will do the same this semester. But we must keep going to keep on growing! we must remember our commitments we made Saturday night, ask others to challenge us and pray for us, not just for the next couple of weeks but for the entire year! I know it sounds impossible, but I love in the bible where it says, "with man things are impossible, but with God it is possible!"
