... I just sorta put you off for a while. You've always been in the back of my mind though. Here's some updates:
001.) Achieve Sho-Dan level in karate.
Not quite, but I did get Sho-Dan Ho in December, and will hopefully be going for Sho-Dan later this year.
002.) Ride a collective 300 miles on my bike.
I went on a few bike rides that I didn't keep track of, but honestly I can count on one hand the times that I've ridden my bike since I've lived with my mom, so I'm sure it didn't add up to much. I DID recently go on a 7+ mile ride with my sister, so I'll give myself credit for that. So that brings the total to 64.3 miles.
007.) Complete at least one college course (more would be preferable).
This can be crossed off the list completely, as at the end of next week I'll actually have nine college courses under my belt. I even made the Dean's List last semester, and likely will again this time! I might even decide on a major someday!
010.) Save $3000.
My savings had gone up and down over and over again until late last summer when I opened one of those Wachovia Way2Save accounts. Each time I use my debit card, $1 is transferred from my checking to my savings. Additionally, I have a $100 automatic monthly transfer set up. I consider that money to be untouchable, and have yet to take anything out of that account since I opened it, which I'm very proud of. I'm up to near $1000 right now, so I'm well on my way to being able to cross this off.
017.) Kayak 10 miles of the Calusa Blueway trail.
Check! Thanks to a few fun weekends with my friends Jen and Chris, I can now cross this off the list.
018.) Attend a film festival.
Two weekends ago I was lucky enough to be able to attend the Black Maria Short Film Festival. It was really cool - very inspiring. I hope the opportunity arises for me to attend other similar events later down the line.
020.) Go on a picnic.
Not your traditional picnic by anymeans, but when Jen, Chris and I kayaked in Estero we were able to tuck our boats under some overhanging trees for shade and enjoy our lunches on the water.
047.) Try five new cheeses.
I've had at LEAST five, however I don't recall what they all were at this point. For several weeks I would pick up a new cheese just about every time I went to the store... I wish I had made some notes about them to throw on here.
078.) Try a new national cuisine.
In recent months, I've become a big fan of both Thai and Indian food.
089.) See 20 movies in the theater.
I'm getting closer to this one. Since my last posting forever ago, I've seen:
- The Dark Knight
- Burn After Reading
- Doubt
- Revolutionary Road
- Last Chance Harvey
- Watchmen
- Slumdog Millionaire
- Adventureland
I may be forgetting something, in which case I'll update later. So that's 9 down, 11 to go.
091.) Get my glasses/contacts prescription updated.
Done! Took care of this last October... still love my new frames!
So yea, that's 7 new items crossed off, with progress towards a few others. In the coming months I'll be able to cross off several more, as I have some travel plans coming up. I still need to be more active about doing things though if I really want to make a dent in it.
