I like how I don't post in my journal for months at a time, then I come write something as if I post every day. Anyway...
Two Fridays ago I went to India Palace with Jen and ate some very tastey Indian food. Jen introduces me to some really awesome stuff. My first Thai experience was with her as well. After that we went to a high school basketball game to see some of Miko's friends play. It was surprisingly fun and exciting. Then we went to the Saint Andrew's Festival, which was way cool. We rode on a couple of rides and had a blast.
On Tuesday when I got to school in the morning I found out my professor canceled my first class so we could watch the inauguration. I sat around and read for a little while until Justin got out of class and called me, then we met up in the library to watch it together. I left for my second class, but it turned out we were watching the inauguration too (as a class), so I went back to the library to watch with Justin. The TVs in the library stopped working because they were hooked to a computer that was streaming and it couldn't keep up or something. So we went back to the room my class was watching it in and sat on the floor right up by the TV and watched it together. It was fun. I'm glad I got to catch it with Justin as we each added our own little commentary here and there that made it much cooler than watching on my own would have been. I still am having a hard time believing that we have a new - totally awesome - president.
Wednesday in my American Cinema class we watched Modern Times. I liked it much more than I thought I would. I'll probly check out some other Chaplin flicks now. It got me into the mood for watching movies, so when class let out I headed over to the theater to see something new. The only thing playing at a convenient time was Last Chance Harvey, which was all right, but totally not my type of movie. I sorta feel like I wasted a movie-trip, but it wasn't a horrible movie. Last week I saw Doubt, which was way more up my alley.
Friday night at work I had a blast with my co-worker Allison. We have one of those huge gum ball machines there - ya know, the kind with the little spiral-slide that the gum ball rolls down that's like four feet tall? Well, suddenly it got a bunch of new gum balls in it and we were on a mission to try some. The problem is that the bottom of the "tank" was still filled with the old gum balls, so we had to shake it up. Shaking up a five foot tall gum ball machine is pretty awkward and difficult, as it turns out. But we persisted, and in the end - after spending about a dollar each - we managed to get two shiney new red gum balls. It was like winning the lottery! Neither of us really even likes those gum balls... they taste like crap after about ten seconds. But it was really fun trying to get the new ones anyway.
I'm thinking about maybe going to the movies later today. I dunno. I might also go to Circuit City to see what kind of cheap stuff I can find there. I have to go with someone else though to check my spending. I have a bad habit of buying stuff just because it's on sale, and in a store full of awesome electronics that's going out of business, that could be disastrous. We'll see though. I may end up just staying home all day. I got a new iPod over the weekend and would like to start loading that bad-boy up. And I've got a few movies here that I want to see, including one that Jen lent me like 2 months ago, so I should probably watch that. I rented the movie Delicatessen, which I'm REALLY excited to see. I also rented Rushmore, which I've seen before, but want to see again.
