Things learned, enjoyed and accomplished on our mini-break.
1. No sales tax in Oregon.
2. The liquor stores in Oregon actually carry varieties of liquor.
3. Portland shopping is fun.
4. Fresh Froot Loop Voodoo Doughnuts ROCK!
5. Oregon is obsessed with bisquits and gravy.
6. Jones of New York Outlet store is FANTASTIC!
7. The Carson Lodge B&B is phenomenal and romantic.
8. The Historic Scenic Highway is beautiful.
9. The views from Crowne Point will blow your mind.
10. Lobster and King Crab is always a great anniversary meal.
11. Hiking to the top of Beacon Rock was a major feat and was absolutely worth it (848 feet in a 1 mile switch back trail up the side of the cliff).
12. The Dalles reminded me of Cache Creek, BC.
13. The Bridge of the Gods legend is beautiful and the toll booth creepy cool.
14. Windy roads are fun.
15. Snowy mountains in the distance are always a treasure.
16. People there are incredibly friendly.
17. Howling coyotes at midnight are cool.
18. Birds birds everywhere. Eagles, hawks, osprey, robins, jays, you name, they're everywhere.
19. Multnomah Falls is breathtaking.
20. Multiple wind-surfers at Hood River, the wind-surfing capital of the world, is a sight to behold on the Columbia River.
21. Homemade breakfast every morning was wonderful, diverse and perfect.
22. Country Cat Restaurant in Portland/Laurelhurst(?) has the best fried chicken bisquits EVER.
23. Chapelle St. Michelle Riesling is lovely with pizza and shellfish.
24. We found a wonderful amazing little Italian shop that had some seriously old vintage wines and ports, and we splurged on a chianti, amarone, and port.
25. I highly recommend, if you have the means to, spend some time down there, three days weren't enough, I could've spend two weeks exploring.
26. Siren was very well behaved and calm on the way home.
Bad experiences:
1. Siren barfed and had diarrhea in the back seat of the car which was thankfully covered with blankets and pillows but the smell and clean was disgusting.
2. The drive down on the 5 is a little boring.
3. Fast food is still disgusting and shouldn't be consumed.
4. Today is for unpacking and laundry.
