Endgame, Bitches!

I'm reading Artemis Fowl right now (I only read books once in a blue moon, so this is relevant). Anyone ever read this? I love the protagonist, because cold-blooded teenage evil geniuses are characters right after my heart, but otherwise the book is, uh, *adequate*. I'm thinking about picking up the second novel after, to see if it gets any better, but I don't know if I'm really into it.

This might be a good moment for the obligatory "I've seen the new Harry Potter, you guys!"-shout out. (So there's spoilers for Harry Potter in here in case you're just visiting this planet and know nothing about it ;D) I've seen it two weeks ago, actually, and it was a glorious movie night where much popcorn was had - but I find it hard to write something about the film because, well, the Harry Potter movies have pretty much been really good ever since Goblet Of Fire. Not much to add. I loved that they really committed to how bleak and hopeless everything is, and the camping trip scenes actually worked better for me in here than in the book, because of those gorgeous shots of the icy English countryside. The movie set up that "this is not a picnic"-tone from the first minute, which was great. The three main actors are all not that great at the acting thing, but they found a way to shoot around it. I liked the additions they made, like Hermione's goodbye to her parents, and the sweet awkward dancing scene between her and Harry. And I got goosebumps when Harry told Umbridge "You shouldn't lie, Dolores," before blasting her because that scene where she makes him carve lines into his own skin is the most disturbing scene in the series for me, and also one of my absolute favourites (Order Of The Phoenix is my favourite book anyway for how rich it is, and the serious "shit's gonna go down"-vibe that permeates it). Bellatrix Lestrange is a character that usually does next to nothing for me, but she might have had her best showcase in this movie (and Helena Bonham Carter owns no matter who she plays!). Oh, and book 7 also contains another one of my favourite scenes, the Bathilda Bagshot scene, which was one of the most genuinely creepy moments in Harry Potter for me, and I was really excited to see it filmed. So that made me very happy. You know what else makes me happy? The way they're setting it up, the last movie will pretty much be all Gringotts-heist and EPIC FINAL BATTLE, so it should be one never-ending nerdgasm. Can't wait!

Oh. Huh. Turns out, there were a few things to add. XD I was never a huge Harry Potter stan, but I guess I will always love this series.

EDIT: You guise, there's also HP spoilers in the comments. So tread carefully! ^^
