Alex and I went to our first party last night. Technically it was a Frosh party, a WINDSOR frosh party in particular, so we decided to swing by. We had walked past the sports fields up to this four-way stop and finally heard a little noice and saw some people standing on a porch in the lights. I freaked out and told Alex we should go. But on the way back, like a block or so, Chiara and Maggie showed up and Alex dragged me back after them.
We went up the porch and were welcomed. This guy named Graham shook my hand and asked me my name. They welcomed me. We were a few steps shimmying in when the other guy, who had a few beers in his hands, asked us if we had anything to drink. He said something to the extent of, "Now you guys go help yourself!" It was pretty funny. We squeezed through the packed house, passing a room with huge Bacardi bottles laying on a mantle piece (hahaha). We continued going, seeing some of the initiators and a lot of people from Windsor, finally. We walked by a table where this kid Drew Brazil was playin cards with a girl on his lap. People were moving slowly through the crowd, as did we. I didn't flip out from claustrophobia, and when we got to the far corner/back of the house, in which we told there was a dance party going on, I saw some people I knew and they all cheered "Wooo, Evan!!!" (including Katie, who can't hold her alcohol, and Brett from Vermont--cool kid). It looked like fun but was made packed so we stood against the wall. People came in and out, such as Hiroumi, Chiara's hot japanese guy, as well as Tosh. Chiara and Maggie made their way to the dance floor with bottles of water in their hands. We finally headed out as more people funnelled in. We got a few feet back to the poker table, in which all the cards were turned over, showing the most lewd positions of the naked female body. One of the Windsor execs talked to me, saying I was bit young for this. I laughed. So, we kept squeezing and got out. We went out the exit where the two "guards" were standing watch. They said see you 'round, and I said we'd be back (for such parties). It was cool, no alcohol needed. Very social, just people having a good time. When I turn 19 I will go to such parties for a beer or two--just for a bit of fun, that's all. It was a good, brief moment.
So, Alex and I left to go get some pizza. But it was closed, so we walked around town. We headed back and saw people returning. Before we saw the people coming up the street, we did notice some RCMP vehicles rushing around, but without sirens. We knew we had gotten out of there just in time. We had had our fun, and at no price, hangover or arrest. Just plain, sober fun.
