Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nature

Well, today was a beautiful day. Boy, what a beautiful day. Thunderstorm, and all.

I don't think I've ever gotten such a dose of nature before. And to think, it's all thanks to something I don't intend to spend my life doing: yardwork.

Basically today was raking leaves/brush up from the lawn, which had been blown there before winter started this past year. What I got out of it was more than mere blisters and a tired body, but a new year experience.

Love is in the air. Ground bees who don't care to sting me are always in my rake's way. Wolf spiders run for shelter after I uncover their rotting homes. Our Japanese maple still stands with determination, blooming at its tips. A wooly mammoth (caterpillar) rolls up in a ball to hide from my delicate touch. Snipping off magnolia branches bears a cross-section smelling of a creamy lime. A cross-section of a loose vine smells like new milk. A cross-section of a thorn bush is bright orange. A red-headed woodpecker clears out a hole for a home. Love, indeed.
