Quote of the Entry:
"Where's my birthday girl?"
- Thornton... you dog... :)

Yeah, so I wanted to mention something.

All of the Livejournal entries I've seen tonight have all had to do with the presidency. And I'm pretty sure that most of you think that I'm concentrating on Kerry's loss more than anything else.

You're wrong.

It's not just that Kerry lost. It's that Democrats lost in the...

A) Presidential election
B) House election (Republicans have a majority in there now)
C) Senate election (Republicans have a majority in there now.... though we have Obama, he's gotta count for like +10... *grins and winks* )

Guess what that means, folks? Right now, the Republicans control the
EXECUTIVE
LEGISLATIVE
branches of our government.

Not only that, but the Republicans will get to nominate new members for the Supreme Court.
For those of us who aren't good at math, let me tally this for you.

Republican control of EXECUTIVE BRANCH + LEGISLATIVE BRANCH + JUDICIAL BRANCH = Republican control of our country.

For at least the next two years, probably for at least the next four years.

All I'm saying is, in the land of equality and opportunity, we Dems are gettin' the short end of the stick in a big way.

When I'm in college in four years, no matter where I end up, I'm pretty sure that I'm going to get really involved in the liberal campus movement to get Democrats elected.

'08 is coming, y'all, and see-saws go BOTH ways. It won't happen on its own, but if we all give it a push, the country should swing back in our favor. So take the initiative. Even if Iraq is over by then, do we really want Bush disciples calling the shots when North Korea comes to call? You know it's gonna happen. Question is, who do you want calling right back?

Peace out, kiddles. I'll make a real update sometime soon. 'Till then, rock on.
