Episode 108: War Breaks Out
The episode opens up in Small Shimaron, where Conrad has just gone to meet with Sara.
Saralegui gives his little babble about how important this meeting is for both of their countries and that he hopes all will go well. It seems that Sara was supposed to arrange a meeting between Conrad and King Lanzhil, but surprise surprise, the arrangements aren't yet complete. Looks like Conrad will have to stay in the castle while he waits.
Conrad definitely knows he's being screwed with.
But too bad he can't do shit about it. Cut to the episode title.
Meanwhile in Shin Makoku, Yuuri is chilling by Conrad's flowers while big brother watches him from a distance. Creeper.
Gunter and Gwendal come over to tell Shori that the Ten Noble's meeting finished and he's not in trouble for the situation with Geneus and all that. Shori doesn't seem all that excited about it.
We get a brief flashback in which Yuuri is told that Conrad went off to Small Shimaron.
Aww, Yuuri's so cute when confused~ Shori looks suspicious, however.
Back in the present, Shori mentions that no one else looks too worried. Gwendal says he knew Shori would say that, but Gunter just says that since Conrad is the most badass of all his students, there's no need to worry. And besides, Conrad's sword is one meant for life beside their King Yuuri, whatever that means.
I don't think Shori gets it either.
Back over by the flowers, Wolfram harasses Yuuri for just sitting there.
Apparently Yuuri is not allowed to mope about Conrad being gone in peace.
Yuuri is angsting about the fact that Conrad went to Small Shimaron alone because he was thinking of Yuuri's feelings in wanting to prevent war, but Yuuri himself can't do anything at the moment. Wolfram shuts him up with a cheesy speech about how Conrad is not alone, because he has the feelings and hopes of all in Shin Makoku with him and nothing is more powerful than that.
And in a mega tsundere moment, Wolf adds that even if Conrad were in trouble, then he'd go save him himself. Since they're bros and all that.
Over in Small Shimaron, Conrad is in the room he was assigned, watching the local troops. He tries the door, only to find that it's locked.
"As I thought." Way to go Conrad, you knew you'd end up locked in and left behind, yet you just went along with it anyway.
Off on his mothafuckin' boat, Sara remarks that it's too bad they had to ditch Conrad since he wanted to talk more with him. Too bad, Lanzhil wants to get busy and so Conrad will have to wait til they get back.
Nice corset, Sara.
Belias looks upset about having to ditch Conrad, too. Awww~
Meanwhile on a Shin Makoku boat, the Kohi are trying to tell the sailors something!
I think it might be "LOOK OVER THERE". The sailors obviously suck and don't look, because they end up
side-swiping a Big Shimaron boat.
In Shin Makoku, looks like they just found out that Big Shimaron's ships are on the move. And it seems that Waltorana's forces have mobilized in response.
Aww, Wolf is worried. I think. And by the way, Waltorana's soldiers just look silly.
In Shinou's Shrine, Murata is ragging on Shinou for taking such a long break, saying that it's creepy to see Shinou so quiet. Shinou asks if something happened, because the country feels uneasy.
His Yuuri-senses are tingling.
Murata says it's because Yuuri's heart is hurting, and then starts to ask Shinou for a favor...
Yuuri is off
sulking in his room now when Murata finds him. Murata offers to come up with a plan to help Yuuri out, since apparently Yuuri's forgotten that he's the goddamned Great Sage and a total genius like that. He says that he could think up a way to repel Big Shimaron and own them utterly, so that no one would ever stand against Shin Makoku again.
However, he's an total creeper in saying this and only manages to freak Yuuri out.
Yuuri instead says that he doesn't want to make Murata act as the Great Sage to him, because he's just Murata Ken, an ordinary high school student who's always barging into his house and eating his curry.
The power of Yuuri's pout is amazing.
Murata says that that's the Yuuri he wants to help, so he'll come up with a good plan not as the Great Sage, but as Murata Ken instead. How this is different I don't know, but apparently it's good enough for Yuuri so moving on. They'll just have to borrow Shori's powers to make this plan work.
And so, in a
closet somewhere, Shori, Murata and Yuuri are in a very compromising position.
Am I the only one who wishes Wolfram had walked in on this? Shori says that neither he nor Yuuri like being so close to Murata, and Murata says he feels the same way (liars!), but they can't have anyone overhearing them so that's the only way to do it. According to Murata, they'll make it so that Yuuri can talk to Lanzhil by shortening space and time.
After being total ninjas to
avoid being seen by Wolfram, Yuuri, Shori and Murata hop in a bath together and teleport to Earth.
Jennifer is drinking tea
with a raised pinky and everything, but gasp, her Yuuri-senses are tingling as well!
Yuuri needs to catch his breath because the transport was a bit exhausting, but Murata says they have to hurry. And worse, Jennifer heard them and is coming, and if she finds them then they won't be able to leave quickly.
Murata tells Yuuri to try to picture where he wants to go.
Yuuri just thinks of Conrad, though. Awwww. He eventually shakes it off, though, and they dive back under. Jennifer comes in to find only an empty bathroom.
Not even any water on the floor. Damn.
Over in Small Shimaron, Conrad's door is open, and there is
evidence of ass having been kicked.
Conrad is on the way! But really, if you were gonna bust out anyway, what was the point of letting yourself get left behind? Seems like a waste of time to me...
Cut to below deck on a boat, where Yuuri, Shori and Murata pop up out of some barrels of water.
Yuuri is totally worn out from taking both Murata and Shori at the same time, twice in a row (oh bb~), so he takes a moment to rest, during which some soldiers aboard the boat come upon them.
They look a little surprised, but who wouldn't be surprised to find a trio of demons chilling in your fresh water supply? They'd planned to end up on a Big Shimaron boat, but Murata points on that their uniforms are those of Small Shimaron, so Yuuri landed them on the wrong boat. Way to go, hero.
The gang gets led to another room to find...
They haven't landed on just any Small Shimaron ship, but on Sara's. Because no one saw that coming.
Sara is totally thrilled to see Yuuri and of course dashes over to spazz over him. So cute~ And still tired from the trip, Yuuri nearly collapses, so Sara gets to fret over him.
Strange that he doesn't really get any explanation for how Yuuri got there and yet he's totally fine with this. "Nothing is impossible for the Maoh," as he says.
The necessary introductions are made, and Shori seems suspicious about Sara's casual attitude toward their sudden appearance, but he's still polite
.Yuuri asks Sara where Conrad is, and Sara claims that he hasn't seen Conrad. Yuuri doesn't question this at all. When asked about the meeting with Lanzhil, however, Sara acts all mysterious. "Yes, the vital stage in which the future of the world will be decided would be no fun without you. It's surely not coincidence that you came here, Yuuri~"
"Let me show you something nice~" Watch out, Yuuri, it's in his pants.
They get taken above deck, where Yuuri and Sara go off to the front of the boat alone. When Murata and Shori try to follow, Belias stops them.
Murata knows something is up, though, and warns Shori to be ready to move at a moment's notice.
Sara takes Yuuri over to the edge of the boat and points out Lanzhil's ship, along with Shin Makoku's ships waiting further out.
Insert obligatory "OBJECTION!"/"PIERCE THE HEAVENS!" jokes here plz.
Yuuri says that he has to stop this soon because war is bad mmmkay, and tells Sara to let him meet with Lanzhil. But Sara says it's too late and that war cannot be avoided now, and takes off his glasses. Oh shi--
Sara says that Yuuri could possibly stop the war, though. Just take out Lanzhil! His eyes start going all sparkly blue, and Yuuri looks freaked out, understandably.
Sara pretty much goes into Geass mode and tells Yuuri to do it, lest his precious people be trampled underfoot, and Yuuri zones out, now metaphorically floating in a black abyss.
Murata and Shori can tell something's going down, and try to interfere, but Belias blocks the way.
I like how Shori's response to this is to say, "MOVE, SAMURAI."
Too late though, because Yuuri suddenly goes Super Saiyan Maoh, and now they can't do shit about it.
Lightning strikes and
giant water cyclones spring up, and it looks like Lanzhil knows he's fucked.
Sucks to be you, Curly.
Murata is confused about what it was that set Yuuri off, but Sara's delighted attitude about the whole thing tips him off that maybe, just maybe, Sara had something to do with it.
The force of the storm knocks Murata and Shori off their feet, and Belias tells Sara that it's dangerous to be so close, but Sara's having none of that, he wants a front row seat dammit.
Lanzhil's ship is smashed and Lanzhil himself is thrown overboard.
Unfortunately for him, no one cares. The storm rages over all of Big Shimaron's ships, but
ends right before where it could possibly damage any Shin Makoku ships. There go those Yuuri-senses again.
Sara is thrilled with how defenseless Big Shimaron is against the Moah's power and remarks that he's never seen anything so wonderful, and Murata calls him out on just using Yuuri all along.
Murata and Shori rage over the fact that Sara would betray Yuuri's trust like that when Yuuri really thought Sara was his friend, but Sara claims that he really does like Yuuri a lot. He just happens to like Yuuri's power too, and he's grateful since Yuuri is taking down Big Shimaron for him.
Belias blocks the way before they can even think of doing anything to Sara, so all Murata can do is glare. The episode ends with a shot of Yuuri in Maoh mode.
My Thoughts:
This episode actually had stuff going on, and a lot of Sara and Belias, so I liked it a lot. As for specific details:
-I'll never understand Conrad's logic. Ever. To me, he just wastes a lot of time doing pointless things. I don't get it :/
-Murata's plan was good, even if it didn't really work. But that's not really his fault, so I'll let it slide~
-I swear, everyone in this show can magically sense when anything involving Yuuri has happened.
-Sara came up with a way to take advantage of Yuuri's sudden appearance within minutes of actually finding out that Yuuri was there. I'm probably the only one, but I love his "JUST AS PLANNED" moments. That corset has to go, though.
