Heh, so many of the character's backstory could be delved more into so I think I can see what you're getting at.
I don't think it'd necessarily be that hard to convince Conrart to leave Yuuri and become King. All you have to do is convince him that he'd be in a better position to protect and support Yuuri and he'd probably do it, especially as this would help take out one of the major 'enemies' to Yuuri's world changing goals. Plus, well, you know Yuuri would make every attempt to visit Conrart officially or unofficially that he could :D
And Conrart would make a (sexy) great king!.
But as you said, the offer was given in a less then optimal situation and there is (theoretically) other heirs supposedly more suitable for the kingship then Conrart is or thinks he is.
Here's another question though, even if Conrart was the only heir left available to take the throne, would Big Cimaron actually go out of it's way to extend the offer to him? If they're as prejudiced as they say, that's not likely to happen. You'd basically be looking at a civil war, and then Conrart would have to go in and basically conquer Big Cimaron (although Fanfan would probably help him out there). Combine that with the fact he'd have to try and raise his own army and then you run the risk that the people of Big Cimaron would resent him (if he had to pull said army from outside the country). And you know Yuuri would either insist on personally helping Conrart or by sending in troops. But I'm sure Gwendal would prevent the latter, because they don't want to appear like they're invading another country, however legitimate the claim is.
But even beyond all that, Conrart would never do it because that means he'd be going against Yuuri's pacifist tendencies too...
So, um...I think I lost my train of thought and just rehashed half of what you said. This discussion topic is really more complex then it initially seems because really we'd just like to see Conrart in royal robes yes/yes?
