Duplicity
After standing in the heat of the afternoon sun for most of the day it is a relief to finally return to your house. Sitting on the couch next to Wolfram, I pass you the box that I have been carrying for you - the video game that you absolutely had to have today. Our fingertips touch, and I notice your reaction at the contact. It is too subtle for Wolfram to notice, but I do.
You look at me with his eyes, but you are not who you seem to be. There is a different sort of gleam beneath his gaze, a familiar tension, and I know it’s you.
“Heika,” I call to you gently. “You appear fatigued.”
You sigh, the tension in your shoulders obvious. A heavy burden.
“You’re right,” you say haughtily, raising your head and puffing out your chest in an effort to convince me that nothing is wrong. “My muscles are tired. I obviously don’t get enough quality exercise from you people in Shin Makoku. I demand a massage!”
Very well. I push up the sleeves of my jacket and gently take your shoulders in my hands, rolling the muscles under the pressure of my fingers. I notice that Wolfram half-heartedly joins in, massaging your left arm. Not one to be shown up by his half-blood brother, he yawns as he works. He is too tired to bother making a fuss about my touching you, let alone the unusual nature of your request.
As you start to relax under my hands, the scent of your skin catches me and I smile. It smells sweet, like spring flowers in the rain. Like Julia.
Shori. I know you want me. You have always made your best effort to make it seem as if you aren’t interested, but I know better. That misplaced look of restrained lust in Yuuri’s eyes is unmistakably yours.
Whatever. If this is the opportunity I need in order to finally taste Yuuri’s lips, I will take it.
