And the fic had me trying to figure out how old Yuuri'd appear: assume the "5 mazoku year= 1 human year" rule, Yuuri would appear 7/8 in age. or is it the "2.5 half-mazoku year = 1 human year" that you're thinking of? [indeed that'd make him 9~10 in appearance;;] >_> or maybe it's the "half mazoku's aging fluctuates like whoa" line?

In episode 18 when Greta first appeared, they talked about crests and how Wolfram didn't have one. Conrad said that, had he been entitled to one, he would have gotten it when he turned sixteen. (I may be getting this from the novel and manga) Conrad went on that at age 16, Mazoku looked about 10 in human appearance (in novel and manga, that's when Yuuri pictures a 10-year old angelic Wolfram). I based his aging on that.

Also, there was the 10 year old half Mazoku that looked 6 in the Mateki arc.

Yuuri stated that he's 15. Wolf also repeats that he's not even an adult yet. it is also mentioned that he came to Shin Makoku at age 5 at beginning of fic

He came to Shin Makoku as a baby five years after the war. In canon timeline, the war ended 20 years ago, but Yuuri is only 15/16. I think Conrad spent between 4 and 5 years on Earth before Yuuri was born (at least, that's what I remember from novel summaries).

the situation of Greta becomes more absurd when they look the same age

Yes, in this scenario, Yuuri ages as a Mazoku so there is no way that Greta could see Yuuri as a father figure. I don't think she would even be able to see him as an older brother figure. It would have been really nice to explore their interactions because Yuuri being king and soon-to-be adult would think its his job to teach the more mature Greta on the ways of the world.

I really like how you've made yuuri's slap to wolf so logical. He can't take him on physically so he'll hit where it'd hurt regardless of strength. [or did he really slapped him as a proposal/insult? @_@ did he learned about old noble traditions with the lake people too?]

He was raised knowing he was going to be king and he knew what the slap meant. He fully meant it as an insult because, from the previous conversation, he thought Wolfram was prejudiced against liking men. Knowing he's king, he knew it would hurt Wolfram's pride to have to go along with it. I don't think Yuuri wanted to continue it for such a long time, he just wanted it to be long enough to make Wolfram squirm. But then he started having familial affections for Wolfram and so he didn't bother to end the engagement since it kept Wolfram close to him. Being an orphan and having a father figure constantly leave, I picture that Yuuri have slight abandonment issues. Leaving the only family he knew at a tender age and getting thrown into a foreign situation with a large responsibility and high expectations doesn't help. Unfortunately, kid!Yuuri really doesn't understand what engagements and marriages fully entail, he was raised by a virgin priestess after all. And he also doesn't quite understand how his proposal affected Wolfram's life and freedom.

there are a lot of other events that I want to comment upon; but I think this comment is long enough as is...

I totally appreciate your comment. I am thinking of revising this before I repost it in the main comms. I kinda did it for shits and giggles. I think it could be crafted better. There was a scene I had wanted to put in: the Van Dar Via scene when he was trying to get Morgif and he and Yozak have a verbal altercation, I think it would be a good scene to explore kid!Yuuri's mental, emotional and psychological trauma caused by his situation and how he's trying to deal with it.

If memory serves, Conrart got transported to earth still with blood all over him[from the war], in the novel. so it means that he stayed on Earth for mazoku years of approximately 5 years. yep. that makes sense to me now. orz, sorry I read the opening sentences thinking it's 5 earth years instead of 5 other-world years even though it's conrart's narration. My thinking was based completely on yuuri as a 5 year old child coming to Shin Makoku.

somewhere in the novel either Conrart or Yozak also talked about how half-mazoku's aging fluctuates.

another question. How did Yuuri learned baseball?

*O* please put in the Van Da Via scene~!! I'd love to read it!

How did Yuuri learned baseball?

From Conrart. At first, I was thinking of Yuuri not knowing baseball but be obsessed by some other Shin Makoku sport. But then I realized that I had set Conrart to regularly visit him and Conrart, in canon, had taught the human kids in that one village how to play baseball. And that solved my problem of trying to come up with Demonball or something as completely ridiculous (Calvinball maybe hehehe).
