Well, you know I'm no film expert, but even I noticed the abrupt choppy cuts, the irregular narrative sequence, how incredibly rushed some elements were and the plot.... *winces* There were competing plots instead of true subplots. Then there was Blake playing the everyman role even though Batman is the everyman hero (relative to the JLA cast). It made Batman superfluous in his own movie. It was probably meant to be some meta on how Gotham no longer needed Batman but it wound up being more like, "Why are you even trying to make a Batman movie if it's not the message you want to convey?" Like you say, when you drift to far from the source....

HISHE did a fair parody of at least some of the plot holes and those have nothing to do with fantasy or realism. Bad writing? Bad editing? Nolan being too heavy handed with his meat puppets? I dunno. It was boring and I had to quit really paying attention to the sheer number of bad cuts and logical inconsistencies. Plot holes are way less aggravating when the source material is presented with more fantasy because it's already asking for suspension of disbelief.
