I'm still sick, just with something else, now. I went to the doctor for that, too and it's probably a sinus infection. Basically, I've been sick since this month started. A typical January for me, though I'm hoping for an atypical lack of pneumonia.
I had a work funny, courtesy of the Safety Freak. Safety Freak is an overweight man who wears earbuds while walking endlessly on the sidewalks in and around my second community. In the morning, I see him walking one way. Sometimes he's walking the other way. In the afternoon/evening, he's walking around various sidewalks in the community, unless he's randomly walking down the street because he's too good fore sidewalks. Or maybe he just wants some variety, what with not being able to drive. Despite that last detail, Safety Freak loves to tell other people how to drive in that he randomly, angrily, shouts irrelevant advice.
I was finishing up my route, going about 20 in a 25 zone, pulling to a stop at an intersection (no crosswalk). I noticed that Safety Freak was walking down the sidewalk to my right, but I got there before he did and, anyway, I had the right of way. I may not be nice when I need to get done by 6pm, but I certainly wasn't in the wrong. I hadn't known if he intended to make a left and continue on that sidewalk or wanted to cross, but when I noticed he was waiting, I concluded the latter. Duh, right?
Since he was right next to me, and I wanted to reassure him that I knew he was there despite the dark and my glaring cab light, I said, "Hello." I use my peripheral vision to drive which means I don't necessarily look right at the hazards (re: people) I perceive, which often leads people to assume I'm oblivious.
He screams, "Be careful!" and starts walking around my truck in a huff, flinging out his arm as if meant to hit the side of my truck.
o.O I guess I must not have been at a dead stop safely enough. Oh, Safety Freak, you are so funny. ^_^ I did the only rational thing and drove off, ignoring his wacky antics. Someday, I will run over him on purpose. On the sidewalk.
