Hurray, a solid week of ten hour days! :(

I almost had an eight hour day but then Puddin' called and sent me to help another carrier. *sigh* I finished too late to make the first class and the second holds little appeal, so I came home to help move furniture. (We're getting another preventive debugging tomorrow).

As lame as that sounds, yesterday was worse because of someone's bright idea to mail cherry cordial in glass bottles, unpadded without so much as "fragile" marked on the box. e_e I received the box with the sad red label "received damaged", which means it got squashed in the APC by other parcels, and didn't think anything of it. Boxes get squished. It's a box thing.

So it's sitting on the dock as I lay out my parcels to get them in order before loading them behind the driver's seat. I grab the damaged box, swing around, slide it in place and then notice the smell. I look down. The bottom of the box has soaked through so completely that a corner tore open. Fermented cordial had spewed all over my pants, boots, the floorboard of my truck and the floor behind the seat. I had no way to wash it out, it was too sticky to wipe up and it was warm out. I put the shitty box in a trashbag and ditched it at the appropriate house first thing, but spent the rest of the day gagging on the smell of rotten fruit and vinegar.

This morning, when inspecting the truck, I pulled out the bottle of floor cleaner and hand brush I'd brought from home and scrubbed it all out. The rain actually helped in the task, making it easy to rinse the floor board and grate.

The lesson here, one which cannot be repeated often enough, is that people are morons.
