You know, I had this idea for a fic once. It was all about how Rogue couldn't control her powers because they had activated, involuntary at too young an age, before her brain had fully developed. This fragmented her psyche, causing her to put up defensive psychological barriers - as people are wont to do in the face of traumatic experiences. Xavier realized that, but chose not to intervene directly, mostly out of cowardice and a need to control a potentially dangerous mutant. So Rogue was operating on a dead cylinder all her life; she couldn't control her power because it had never fully matured - it was stunted. I even made a point how there should be additional sensory sensation unique to her skin, as a mechanism to control her power, versus tactile contact in and of itself. The cure was to remove the psychological barriers and embrace her power, destructive as it may be.
So I just got around to reading X-Men #224. All I've got to say about it is: Heh.
