Doctor Who Still Kicks Ass
While I was driving around today, I listened to a Big Finish audio play, which reminded me of two basic facts:
a) The Doctor Who audio plays kick ass.
b) 7Doc has more menacing badassery in his pinky finger than 10Doc had in an entire season, minus the fiery back-lighting, anxiously trying to look furious instead of weakly bombastic posturing, while a companion expounds in painful emphasis on how deep dark and terrifying the Doctor is. 7Doc just apologizes in that soft sincere way, and then walks away leaving his enemies to dies in genuine terror, then smiles fondly when Ace drags along her latest boytoy to keep herself amused and distracted amidst the routine carnage.
c) Hell, even 1Doc was more terrifying than 10Doc, as he giggled like the senile maniac he was, after accidentally burning down Rome. I can just see 10Doc making his hurt little puppy face and wangsting about it, before trading in his furniture because it's gone out of style. And by that, I mean the latest companion who will tediously lust after him. I would have kept watching if Martha hadn't turned into such a tool over that. Seriously, Doctor/Companion romance is best done in moderation.
Also, last night I made a batch of chicken broth and accidentally left it out on the counter overnight. :( But I'd put it in a mason jar, filled it to the brim and tightened the lid when it was still boiling hot. So when I opened it today, sadly preparing to dump the contents, I heard a thrilling vacuum pop, put the lid right back on and set the jar in the fridge. Hurrah for basic canning technology!
