In the end, as it seems things always do, the auction seems to have worked out - Sandy and Laura got $1200 in sponsorships, we persuaded (forced?) 50 people to buy tickets, and we got lots and lots of things for people to bid on.
The event is Saturday.
Now for the next stressful co-op responsibility: getting people for next year. The 3-day class is almost full, with more kids than this year. But the 2-day class has, at least as of two weeks ago, ONLY TWO KIDS. Obviously the class cannot run with just two kids. We have two ads running right now (one on Facebook and Instagram, and one on a Niskayuna-only email newsletter), we are going to have a table at the big Niskayuna festival next month, and we're going to have a Saturday open house....but usually at this time there's at least 10 people in the class!
We have run the same ads, in the same places, done the same open houses as always...
I have no idea what's going on, but it's very bad. The 2-day class is a feeder to the 3-day class, so no 2-day class next year would kill the co-op the next year.
So obviously we need to find a bunch of 3-year-olds whose parents don't need full-time care and drag them into the co-op. I think that's the problem...everyone needs full-time care.
Last year a co-op member was the after-care daycare provider for about four kids, but she decided to stop doing that this year.
