So, you know, Evan and I just got married. Like, less than 2 weeks ago. And I so feel you on everything in this post. Weddings are freaking expensive. According to my spreadsheet, we (and by we I mean Evan and myself, and my parents, and his parents) spent ~$8000 on the wedding... and we did most of the stuff ourselves. In fact, we paid other people for only 5 things-- venue (just the space, not the food), photography, officiating the ceremony, my dress and Evan's suit, and my hair. Luckily I have many crazy and talented people in my life who wanted-- offered, even-- to help out, so we had a group of family friends cook for the reception, my mom and sister made the cupcakes, kat and I did the flowers, etc. And it really wasn't as stressful as people in the wedding industry would have you think it would be. (Not saying I didn't have my meltdowns, but...) You might be surprised by what people will offer to do for you two.
