Overview
I had no expectations for this drama, I only picked it up because Kitayama was in it so I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is hilarious. Each episode is a 10 minute skit in which the prosecutor, Totsugi Shigeyuki, and the defense attorney, Kitayama Hiromitsu, have ridiculous verbal battles and the judge, Sato Jiro, acts as tsukkomi.
Closer Look
The episodes mostly follow a set pattern but the content is always different so it doesn’t get boring. And every now and then they throw in a variation to keep things fresh. The sound effects are really beta but in a way that totally works with the ridiculousness of the setting. There is also a corner where the three main actors go on a tour of Sapporo that is played at the end of shorter episodes. These spin offs are also hilarious and have officially made me a Totsugi Shigeyuki fan.
Bottom Line
I don’t know if there are any English subs available for this drama but if you understand Japanese and are familiar with pop culture you should definitely watch this.
