A Nice Long Weekend

Feb 23, 2009 12:17

Well, not technically a 'long' weekend, but it certainly was fun!

Saturday was HOCKEY DAY IN CANADA! YAYS!! And I dressed up in my Calgary Hoodie and the awesome scarf that rinnuninnu knitted for me a long time ago, but I always wear it when I wear my Calgary gear! And it worked too! They won in a shootout (bout time Bertuzzi, stick to the simple stuff!). And Ray was happy because Vancouver won in a shootout as well! And Mats Sundin scored the winning goal....against Toronto! It was really great to watch.

Before that though, I went out with Mom, Nana and my little cousin Daniel. We went on a bit of a yarn tour. LOL. First we hit Rose's Fine Yarns in Fonthill where I picked up these kickass stainless steel needles... they are so nice, so smooth and so light, the yarn just flies off of it and I can knit really fast with them. Then we went to Canadian Comfort Alpacas in Vineland and Daniel got to see the Alpacas and have his picture taken on a bail of hay. The lady who owns the farm, Leslie, was so nice and she thought that Daniel was my little boy. :D Anyway, I didn't buy any yarn there, however, I did buy some roving to spin my own yarn! I got a drop spindle for Christmas and is it ever fun when you learn how to use it! I picked up some plain creamy 100% alpaca roving, and then 100% alpaca but it's dyed this nice greeny-blue colour :D Think I might make mittens out of them when I'm done spinning. Then, we hit Grimsby and visited a small shop called Stitch. It was a really nice shop with some rare yarns in an old house. I really liked it there and Nana was talking with a young man because Daniel was asleep and she had to hold him so she spoke with the man while we were shopping. Good thing Nana's up for an adventure too, the shop was a little hard to find, but it was nice.

Sunday was fun too, Ray wanted to go out so we went to Entertainment Overload and browsed the videogames - I was almost tempted to get the UMD for Donnie Darko for my PSP, but I have it at home and can always rip it and put it onto my memory card. Then we hit the sports store and I put in a request for a pink Calgary jersey - they have to order it. Ray found a Nederland football t-shirt he liked and we found out that there's a soccer store downtown so we hit that, but they were closed. We found out though that they're having a huge sale at the celtic pub on March 7th, so we're going to check that out.

After that, we were comfy, at home - I was knitting and finished my first Monkey sock, and did some laundry. We both made a huge pot of soup and pigged out on that. It was a really good weekend! I like it when I can be busy like that but still have time to relax. The Oscars were great too!!! OMG, Hugh Jackman MADE the show, he was so good, he didn't rib anyone or make any wierd jokes or comments, all the singing acts were fantastic... and I have to say, the best speech of the night was the Japanese gentleman who won for best animated short! He was saying thank you to everyone "Thank you academy, thank you animation, thank you my staff..." and at the very end, he was lost for words and he paused just before he saying "Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto!" I lost it and Ray missed it... I wish he could've seen it, it was too funny! I was having a hard time feeling good for Sean Penn though, not because he didn't deserve this one, he did! I've heard his performance in Milk was fantastic and he deserved this one... I'm just still a little pissed about him getting the Oscar over Bill Murray *sigh* it still makes me angry. But Kudos to Sean for getting the award for the role he was meant to.... cause we all know the one he got instead of Bill was retroactive for 'I am Sam' and not Mystic River. *end rant*

I hope everyone else's weekend was good as well. :*
