"HOW COULD YOU?"

if u read this it'll seriously bring tears to your eyes

A man in Grand Rapids, Michigan took out a $7000 full page ad in the paper to present the following essay to the people of his community. It really touched my heart and I hope it will yours too.

OMG. I just read this and it's so sad... I don't understand how people can do this sort of thing to animals.

I've been working to get publicity for a no-kill shelter in my state, which does the most amazing work. Check out the website www.petshaven.com.au

Incredible people. I look at my furbaby and wonder how people can go from loving an animal to just seeing it as a burden and something that's an inconvenience...

It made me cry the first time I read that. Its why I pay sooo much money to live where I live now, we had such a short notice to find a new place and where we were staying didnt allow dogs so the first place that allowed my dogs and cats we took so here we are! 45mins from my job a few towns away, but it only took two weeks of constant searching.

at work on our slow days we have a few rescues we do free grooms for to help the dogs get adopted. and i collect all the used old/new collars bowls toys ect and give em to one of our rescues. i had one short breif time where i had no animal in my life, for about a year, sometimes i'd trip on stuff in the dark and still freak out i stepped on the furry friend i didnt have

I went for years refusing to get a pet because I hate the awful feeling when they get old and leave you (as in die, but I don't like to say that ( ... )

aww yea we have a cat rescue at work, they go to the shelters and rescue cats or they are called out to hoarding cases ect. sometimes i dont like them tho personally because they do stuff as in sometimes adopting out a cat that still isn't fully over being sick, which i think is outrageous to do! exspecially if the home has other cats, but we get tons of the hoarding cats in, you always have a fave. there was this big fat tabby named roscoe everyone fell in love with him but no one would adopt him! if i didnt have two cats i woulda, but in the past three cats together wasnt a good choice. so i refrained. the day he got adopted its all everyone talked about because it was like why is this cat here? everyone loves him! i think his size was intimidating he was rather large for a tabby. then even customers would come in asking about roscoe for a bit because they loved playing with him when they came in. but you can't have every lil furry in your home. i wish i was there to see who adopted him tho.

Well I injoy my dogs as well because they can actuelly go out and get involved in more active activies as cats usally don't injoy new places so much. I'd have a dog farm if i had the time and money lol. Theres soooo many dif breeds I just love!

I like dogs, but I find cats much easier to be around. I love how lazy and serene they are.

True. I do need something to motivate me to get out.

I have a friend who's had three cats for years, though, and she's only just got a dog. It's been a culture shock for her! She says Poppy's so demanding, while the cats just chill out all the tim. She didn't know what to expect!

lol yea, dogs are pack animals as cats not so much. dogs love interaction they want you to get out and go go go with them. thats why i love em tho, no complaining and we can walk four miles! while my friends well complain. my cat, great cuddle buddies, well my dogs are too tho well the pit bulls are the chow chow, they arent much on cuddling lol. if yur not an active person usally a dog isn't a good choice of a family member lol

Oh, and I want to buy somewhere bigger to live, but every time I see a place I go "Nope, that's not right for Cookie" or "Cookie would shred that carpet, so that's not going to work" or "We need room for an enclosure!"

Nuts, but hey, if he's happy, I'm happy!

lol we are in a tiny house, renting for now, cost out the ass! but its on 4 acres of wilderness so we sorta suck it up and stay for now. my dogs got room to run so they like it! cats, they picked there fave rooms as they don't go outside, well aren't suppose too granted they do sneak out once in awhile. but with the amount of fur babies i have the day we move will be a challenge with the double of furries we've added to the family living here. but its possible.

My cat doesn't go out either. They often get skin cancer here, and there's no way I want him to have to deal with that. Plus, I'm pretty sure he'd have zero road sense!

I had one cat who had cancer on her nose, and the poor little nose was eaten away. She was happy and healthy otherwise, but it got really bad towards the end and it was kinder to put her down. The other one got it on her ear, and the skin there was really bad.

It's just safer to keep them inside in most of Australia.
