"HOW COULD YOU?"

if u read this it'll seriously bring tears to your eyes

A man in Grand Rapids, Michigan took out a $7000 full page ad in the paper to present the following essay to the people of his community. It really touched my heart and I hope it will yours too.

I went for years refusing to get a pet because I hate the awful feeling when they get old and leave you (as in die, but I don't like to say that...)

Now I have my cat. The girls at the local petshop do things differently to most petshops. They only take in kittens that have been dumped. The owner raised my kitty from the time he was about 3 weeks old, and gave him to me when he was about three months. She adored him.. she's like that with all her cats. Basically, they make no money from the cats, because they pay for all the formula for the babies, spend weeks on end getting up every few hours to feed them (one time she introduced me to Philip, her little grey baby, who she said she was taking to bingo with her, so she could feed him on time!), getting them vaccinated and getting them microchipped, which is compulsory here.

Anyway, long story short, she gave him to me because she wanted him to have the right owner. She's really picky about that. But yeah, petshops generally make me sad, but these girls .. the things they do for dumped babies. They have vets from various parts of the city calling and asking them to find homes for kittens quite often.

aww yea we have a cat rescue at work, they go to the shelters and rescue cats or they are called out to hoarding cases ect. sometimes i dont like them tho personally because they do stuff as in sometimes adopting out a cat that still isn't fully over being sick, which i think is outrageous to do! exspecially if the home has other cats, but we get tons of the hoarding cats in, you always have a fave. there was this big fat tabby named roscoe everyone fell in love with him but no one would adopt him! if i didnt have two cats i woulda, but in the past three cats together wasnt a good choice. so i refrained. the day he got adopted its all everyone talked about because it was like why is this cat here? everyone loves him! i think his size was intimidating he was rather large for a tabby. then even customers would come in asking about roscoe for a bit because they loved playing with him when they came in. but you can't have every lil furry in your home. i wish i was there to see who adopted him tho.

I like dogs, but I find cats much easier to be around. I love how lazy and serene they are.

True. I do need something to motivate me to get out.

I have a friend who's had three cats for years, though, and she's only just got a dog. It's been a culture shock for her! She says Poppy's so demanding, while the cats just chill out all the tim. She didn't know what to expect!
