Pippi flounced over from the direction of the camp gym after the cheerleading tryouts.

"Hey Al! Did you pack the sandwiches?"

Alphonse picked up a paper bag that was sitting by his feet and waved it around gently. "I got some right here."

Yes, Nadia was still sneaking after Pippi, with her mallet still poised for strike. Her arms were getting tired from holding it above her head for most of the day.

"Zoon ve vill haf you, moose and sqvirrel!" she cackled to herself.

"Great!" she said holding open her rucksack for them. In her rucksack were also a few bottles of lemonade, a thing of cookies, her compass, and something shiny.

"I mentioned that we were looking for the mine to Walter and Nadia this morning. But they seem to be... Doing something else today. So... West?"

"So they can't come? Guess that means it's just us two," Alphonse peeked into Pippi's sack, both impressed and pleased with what she brought. "Right, looks like we've got everything we need. West it is!"

Valter was feeling very frustrated by his general inability to find explosives. What sort of place was this that there weren't handy stashes of TNT just lying around.

They would find some at the mine, no doubt. Mines always had mine shacks filled with explosives.

Pippi started to follow Al west to where they encountered the four strange "people" the day before.

"Hey Al. Do you think you could use Alchemy to find this stuff?"

"Um, well... I don't think I could do much," Alphonse said. "I don't know what the stuff is, so it'd be hard to even detect it."

"Wouldn't you just have to try and see if you detect something you've never encountered before? Or do you have to look for something specific?"

He shook his head, "No, I've gotta know what it is, first. It's a bit risky using alchemy on something you don't have much knowledge about."

"Hmmmm." Pippi walked thoughtfully until they got back to the place where they encountered the moose and the squirrel.

"Okay... So the camp is back that way..." she pointed back the way they came. "And the old abandoned shack is that way." She pointed in a northwesterly direction.

"Which way did they go, do you remember?"

Valter followed along in an exaggerated tiptoe. He didn't know how ballerinas did it for long, but it was obligatory.
