New Painting: "IV - The Emperor"

Those of you who were at Gaia Community on Sunday have seen this already, yo.

In a two-day frenzy, I went from preliminary sketch to full, finished painting. Woot!

Behind zee cut, I give you:

I stuck with the Waite symbolism for the most part, because I really like the ankh staff and globe as symbolising the dual nature of the Emperor's power - spiritual and earthly. I like the laurel crown better than the king's crown, because this is a lesson that comes from overcoming adversity, not by simply inheriting it or being granted it. It is a victory. It was important to the ritual team that he be wearing red - color of fire, to tie into the summer solstice - but I wanted the purple cloak as well.

If anyone -- especially folks who made it to the Sovereignty Rite at Gaia -- wants it, I have a wallpaper available for download here. The sketch I linked to above is also available as a coloring page.
