Consanguinity vs. Incest
I am a Ben/Gwen shipper. But I am against incest. And I know right there people are going to think I'm nuts, but I have a point, really. There is much more to "incest" these days then the simple defination. There's the sexual abuse inneundo behind it. And because of that, I am against and I hate incest. There is a term I will use for Ben/Gwen, it's called "consanguinity" and I would really perfer if people are going to say anything about my ideas of Ben/Gwen, they would use THAT one and not incest. Because my stories are not about a victim and an agressor and years and years of therapy and torment because one of the characters is a victim of sex abuse (*heh* I'll leave that to all the Kevin/Ben shippers out there).
Thinking about it, this could be why I insist that it's not "incest". I'm not denying their blood-relation, I'm denying the implications of their relationship being dirty.
Some Terminology.
Incest
-sexual intercourse between closely related persons
Example: 30 year old uncle who is raping his underage neice. Incest is abuse, it is NOT consensual and here there is a victim and an agressor. THIS IS WRONG, DIRTY and NASTY. It's also illegal.
Consanguinity
-relationship by descent from a common ancestor; kinship
It still makes them related, because in my little world there is no magic wand to wave over Gwen's head and make her a Tennyson by name only. But it does not have the implication that they have molested each other or anything like that.
