Well, the situation in Spain is more or less like this:
Norma Editorial usually releases every month a flyer with all new comics in the cathalog but when is "manga-con time" they release manga only flyers. Also, they release the first chapter of every new manga they publish on the internet so you can have a look at it. The only time I know they've released a first chapter offline is with Nodame Cantabile, they gave it for free with almost all manga releases that month (I have like five of them XD). What they're doing lately is give away some stuff with popular mangas to promote them, things like boxes to store the series, postcards, stickers, pins or mobile keychains, they once included a lipgloss with a Kayono manga pack XD (In my opinion this publisher has the best marketing of them all, they even bought a star for Natsuki Takaya when they released Hoshi wa utau here). Planeta gives away some posters and extra covertures for new mangas at manga-cons and sometimes they release previews of manga on the internet. Ivrea used to have some pages of their mangas online to get a glipse of the drawing and stuff but since they changed their website they're nowhere to be seen. Glénat Spain hardly ever releases any preview online or offline, I'm not sure if they give away things at conventions but I don't think that's the case. But at least they they release some mangas with a cheaper price once its been a time they were first published here. Panini scarcely publishes any manga here but the last three new series they released last month got their first six pages online to have a look (six pages is almost nothing but it could be worse ¬¬).
I think that's all XD there are a few more manga publisers in Spain but those five are the most important. I hope you find it helpful ^^ and sorry for my English it's a bit rusty XD BTW I have some Norma Editorial manga flyers and stuff the give away with mangas, I could take a photo if you want ^^
Ah thank you, this is very informative *___* When I was buying mangas in Spain I never received any promotional material (although I would buy at a comic & manga shop .__. )
Glénat France gives away stuff at conventions if you buy 3 or more of their mangas, but doesn't do previews either.
Panini Germany barely releases any mangas either, so they don't even bother with a preview anymore, all we get is a terrible looking newsletter. But Panini France gives nice postcard-previews. I find it interesting to know that the same group operates differently in each country.
You mentionned internet previews, one German editor does that too, usually the first chapter is put online the month before the release. Some French websites receive previews from the editors and put those online. Oddly enough, you rarely find a preview on the editor's website itself. Weird.
