Going home was awesome. I didn't really get to spend time with anyone from home, and I'm sorry for that, but it's kind of difficult when you really have only 5 days to do things with everyone and you have to have Christmas in NJ and in MD.
So, Saturday the 22nd was spent flying. An entire day of flying. That was fun. And the day started early too. The fun part was when our plane out of Denver started taking off. The nose started to go up, we start increasing our speed and then all of a sudden they hit the breaks and we're on the ground again. The flight attendant next to us was like "I've been flying for 10 years and that's never happened before." So, that was interesting. The captain gets on and informs us that a door light came on and they wanted maintenance to check it out. That's fine. Once its' all said and done they come back on and tell us the door's fine, but everything in Dallas is screwed up. Meaning they wanted to delay us anyway and that everything going out of there was going to be delayed. Which is kinda nice because that means we won't miss out connecting flight. When we finally got there we look at the screen and it said that our flight was not delayed. Great. The plane leaves in like 15min and the plane's on the other side of the airport. So we race over there only to find out they changed the gate. WTH? So we race to the next gate only to find out.... our plane really is delayed they just never updated anything. That's really annoying.
Sunday was spent relaxing a bit and waiting for Sam's parents to come and get him. We also got to hang out with
midnightsky255 and considering that Sam and I haven't seen him in a few years we were long overdue to hang out, considering he's the one that introduced us. We all went out to the Macaroni Grill and then I said good bye to Sam for a few days. This is the longest we've been apart, it was kinda weird. Monday mom and I went out to do some shopping and I got some new pants. All is well.
Christmas was good. It wasn't as big as it normally was, and I'm ok with that because I wasn't really expecting much - not when my parents are supporting me until I find a job. But the loot was good including a winter jacket since I never really owned one, not even in high school. I think the funniest gift was that my mom got me a beginner's cake decorating kit in preparation for my mid-life crisis career change. I <3 my mother. I got other neat and great things, but those things stand out the most.
Wednesday I was allowed to borrow mom's car and I drove all the way down to MD for Christmas. We hung out with Sam's friend Jeff and his wife Rachael which was awesome. Jeff opened up a bunch more than when I've met him in years past and I <3 his wife. We started to play a board game called Descent. I must have this game. You can't make me a caster that utterly destroy things, give me 2 ferret familiars and not expect me to want more - must have this game. We also got to hang out with Annie for a bit, and it's always good to see her :)
Thursday Sam had a dentist appointment at 8am. That was fun, then we went to lunch and hung out at the mall for a bit. For dinner we went out to Outback with Jeff, Rachael and Jeff's mom. It was so nice of her to treat us. Then although it was very late at night we drove home and we made record time. Got in at 2am, Pj and I ate lasagna as our midnight snack and called it a day.
Friday we went to Gamestop and hung out with my parents for a bit and went to Applebee's to dinner. By this point the week was catching up to us since it was in constant motion.
Saturday was real fun let me tell you (sarcasm). My dad had been putzing around the night before on the internet and signed up to get email alerts and notifications from Delta Airlines since that was what we were flying. Turns out our flight was delayed, like really delayed for a long time, and Expedia never notified us. That was a bitch. So Sam bitched them out until they accomodated us, because if they had not we'd miss our flight in Cincinnatti. So, that was a very long day and I'm glad we're home - especially since it turned out that my kitty did miss me.
All in all the week was good. Another gift of note was that Sam had gotten me a Heroes book which is the untold story of Hiro and Charlie... it just fills in the blanks from all the scene cuts they did in one episode, but the book is good... but short.
The lesson learned from this trip is to not ever use Expedia ever again, because they'll just leave you stranded with no way to get home.
And on to New Year's. Resolutions and such to come tomorrow. As for tonight - much pvp with Sam and Jason and getting drunk while watching Eva :3
Happy New Year, everyone!
