Father's Day 2011

This past Father's Day was spent at Greenfield Village. Apparently this place is a big deal around here because it's where Henry Ford brought many historic elements. I was told it was a huge field trip hot spot. Regardless it was rather exciting and different than our normal adventures. We basically brought Ken's dad there as they were having a vintage car show. It was pretty neat. Saw lots of old time things and had custard and got a lot of walking in. One day perhaps we'll go back when the village is in normal working conditions and I'll get to see what it's really like there.

Other than that things at work are getting kind of crazy as I inherit more responsibilities. I am growing as a resource and for that experience I am forever thankful, but it is a tiring process to say the least. There is at least one night a week that I spend at the office until around 9pm and there is one day where I have to get up and start my day at 6am. The days are long and the workload is foreboding but when you come out with a victory it feels rather good. I feel rather accomplished. Sometimes more disheartened than not but accomplished nonetheless.

Vacation will start at the end of next week and I'm totally looking forward to that. We'll be going home to NJ/NY for the 4th of July and to my uncle's BBQ. We're not entirely sure what we're going to do to fill the time but the idea of an amusement park has popped into my head. Maybe at least Pj might be able to come to that, provided he can get the day off.

Michigan life is pretty normal. I'm still trying to get used to some things. Last night I found out that the term "severe thunderstorms" really means monsoon. Yeah, I drove home through that and all the flooding it caused at 10pm last night on my way home from work as it was one of the many late nights I speak of. Hopefully, we'll be able to go to the zoo at some point. I want to get back into photography, this past weekend was enough to set that spark flying. I had only brought my little point and shoot pocket camera because I was unsure of the load I wanted to carry, but then I heavily regretted not bringing my DSLR :(

I also want to get back into drawing, but my available downtime is not proving to let me do such things. No excuses, I need to make time for my hobbies - it just seems the cooking hobby just has enough time to shine.

That's what I'll do - make an effort to work on my hobbies, yes :)

Back to work, and hopefully not a scatterbrained post later :)
