"Natsume! Ryo! Don't run so fast!"
"Shinpai shinaiyo, Nee-chan!"
"Don't worry so much, silly." Sho replied, tugging at Tomomi's hand when the girl made a move to shout across at her two brothers again, who were running across the empty beach. By this time, many had already headed home for dinner, which was probably why Tomomi only brought Sho out then. Okutama might be a small village, but she didn't want to risk the guy getting mobbed, lest his manager feed her to the vultures.
"B-"
"Shinpai shinaiyo, Tomomi. They'll be fine. Let them be kids." Sho replied, as he tugged her closer to him, finally placing an arm around her shoulders, he grinned when he looked over to see the red tainting her cheeks, chuckling. "Why so embarassed, Mi-chan?"
"Mi-chan?"
"Your name's too long. Besides. Mi-chan sounds cute, no?"
"... Not really."
"I think it sounds cute."
"Onee-chan! We're going back now! We promised Obaa-chan we'd help her with... with dinner!"
"Be... careful. Why are they in such a hurry?"
"I think they got the message." Sho replied, as he ignored Tomomi's rather clueless look to pull her in, nuzzling his nose against her neck, brushing light butterfly kisses across her chin, and then her cheek, grinning to himself when he felt the resistence in the girl melt away completely, as she leaned in to him, Sho used his forefinger to tilt her chin upwards, pressing a deep, alluring kiss upon her, before they pulled away, Sho leaned his forehead on her.
"Ne, hora. Remember this?" he said, as he pulled out the phone, his cell kept in his back pocket, and grinned as he let the butterfly charm dangle in between them.
"Eh? You're still keeping it?"
"Mochiron. We bought it together in New York, remember? The one with the White Butterfly legend?"
"Oh, the one where the wife died and turned in to a white butterfly?"
"... Yes. But do you have to mention the part about the wife dying?" Sho replied, frowning at the thought. He didn't like even the idea of Tomomi leaving him, cause he had a feeling he wouldn't be able to survive without her. Not without her resilence, her spirit, her dogged determination, her laughter and her smile.
"Well, that is the legend after all."
"Shush. We'd better go back, its dark already. Ikuyo." Sho frowned, pressing a last kiss on the tip of her nose, much to Tomomi's amusement and surprise, before he took her hand in his again, and started pulling her back towards the house. To their surprise though, the house looked deserted when they stepped in, but it wasn't till they got to the living room, before they realized.
"Hora, there's a note."
Tomomi. I've brought Ryota and Natsume along with me to visit a friend, since I'm sure you're to return to Tokyo with Sakurai-kun soon. Take care.
- Mimoru Obaa-chan.
"They went off alone?"
"Look. Dinner's on the table."
"Is food the only thing in your mind?"
"I'm hungry! And Ryo-kun and Natsume-chan would be fine with Obaa-chan, no?"
"We-ll. I guess."
".... Should we get started on dinner then?"
Somehow, the idea of being alone under the same roof for one night, with no one else around, was making Tomomi suddenly feel extremely embarassed, and mind you, Sayakomi Tomomi is not someone you see with a blushing face around often. Oddly enough though, its been happening increasingly often lately, especially after she had met Sho.
"H-hai." the guy replied, in an almost equally hestitant tone, as Sho shoved his hands in to his jeans pocket, and sat at the table whilst Tomomi started to prepare the table. Once or twice, the guy would sneak a glance at the girl from the corner of his eye, but most of the time, he would keep his gaze focused on wherever 'look down' meant.
Dinner, was a silent affair, occasionally punctuated by comments on the food, or simple, rather awkward questions, as the sounds of chopsticks against porcelain bowl filled the now silent house, and it wasn't till after the meal, when Tomomi had cleared everything away, when Sho finally asked. "Ne... what do you want to do now?"
"... Watch... Oh wait, we don't have signal around here."
"Eh? So thats why you guys don't have television?"
"We do, one down at the barber shop, where Natsume and Ryo goes to watch on the weekends, but not in Obaa-chan's house. Obaa-chan says its better for the boys anyway."
"... Oh."
The conversation had somehow brought both of them to sit in the (television-less) living room, where Tomomi unconciously picked up Sho's phone, which he had left lying by his leg. Watching with amusement as she started fiddling with it, he grinned when he saw her fingers unconciously, constantly brushing against the butterfly charm that hung on his phone, unable to resist smiling, before reaching over to pull Tomomi closer to him.
Leaning his head on hers, the guy pressed light kisses on her forehead, breathing in deeply her scent that lingered, yet blinked in surprise when she pulled away out of the blue, and pushed his phone back to his hands, wordlessly turning her back on him.
"Mi-chan? Nande?" Sho asked, as he flickered his gaze to her back. It wasn't till he looked at his phone, before he realized what she saw. A picture of Aya grinning at the beach, a picture back during one of their class trips.
"Tomomi... Tomomi, look at me." Sho tried to coax, as he reached out to touch her shoulders, only to get his arms shrugged off, as the girl moved further. "Tomomi?"
No reply.
"For goodness sake, Tomomi look at me!" Finally, Sho gave up the gentle coaxing, and firmly took her shoulders, and turned her around, but was forced to swallow a gulp when he saw her red stained eyes. "Mi... Look, I love you. Okay?"
"... Nande?"
"I loved Aya. She was my everything, she helped me get through college. But she also died of cancer, years ago. 6 years ago to be exact." The memory of Aya was, had always been painful to him. But somehow now, today, talking about Aya to Tomomi, it didn't hurt, at least not so much. "But I love you now. Because you're feisty, you know what you want and you're not afraid to get it. Because you don't know when to stop, and I want to be the one to watch your limits."
"Watch my limits?"
"Let me take care of you, don't be so independant anymore. Everyone needs someone in their lives, and that includes you." And with those words, Sho pulled her in to seal them with a kiss, a kiss that streaked straight to her toes, as the girl curled her arms around his neck, returning the gesture fervently, Sho picked her up, in his arms, and gently carried her towards the bedroom.
"Sho?"
"Aishiteru, Mi-chan."
