Budget Beauty
So I love the pretty packaging & cute GWPs that come with higher-end brands... but what really gets my inner bargain-lover glowing has to be cheap drugstore finds! A quick list of my all-time faves:
♥ ZA Cutie Curl Mascara: The fact that this was recommended to me by En, a prior mascara-phobe, speaks volumes for this lash booster! Smooth consistency and the brush doesn't pick up too much product, so there's minimal clumping even without having to swipe the wand with a tissue like I usually do.
♥ Biore Cleansing Oil: No need for cotton pads, I just massage the product straight onto my face. Even budge-proof mascara splashes off cleanly with water, without any eye-irritation. The crisp green apple scent is yummy too!
♥ Bio-essence Face Lifting Cream: I can't say it's made any visible difference to my hamster-cheeks, but I love how this product feels on my skin! Leaves it tingly fresh, without that heavy, sticky feeling that's put me off using moisturisers previously. Raved about it to Chan, and now she's a fan too!
♥ Revlon Smooth-On Blush in SoftSpoken Pink: This is the only blusher I've ever used till I can see the base of the pan, and twice over! Good if you just want a hint of colour, not for those who prefer full-on rosy cheeks.
♥ Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner in Charcoal: This is a permanent resident in my makeup bag. It's so idiot-proof I've even helped Wei line her eyes with it. I'm usually so paranoid about sticking things around other peoples eyes but this product is a cinch to use!
♥Sunplay Sunblocks:Thanks to my mom, I've been drilled to slap sunscreen on my face every morning, and boy am I glad for these japanese-formulations! They're liquidy and easy to apply, without leaving an overly whitish cast on the face.
As a sidenote, I thought Al was really sweet to actually help me choose a sunblock from the mind-boggling range available at Watsons on Saturday. And when he finally made his pick, he didn't just do it based on price alone, "This one has aloe vera and can be used on the face and body. Plus, it has a cute dolphin?" Heh.
It also contains menthol, which gives a cooling sensation when applied. I'd advise you to avoid the eye area with this one, or try the other non-menthol ones by Sun Play.
Sweet Sundae!
Met up with Wenie for lunch, on the pretext of going to town to do research for one of my stories. So we sat down at Coffeebeans@Wheelock and I proceeded to pick at her brains and my roast chicken sandwich. Yum-eh!~ :D~
Then we headed over to Zara, where I ransacked the children's department. (Yes, yes... I know what you guys are thinking... mutton dressed as lamb? Meh!~ :p)
And then there was a Kerastase roadshow going on at Wisma Atria. I was just browsing innocently when a sales girl picked up the scent of easy-prey and zoomed in on me. Plonked me down on the futuristic bar-stool and proceeded to scan my scalp. The images that appeared onscreen must have brainwashed me, cos I managed to part with about $70 in a matter of minutes. Ka-ching!~ >_< Ah well... the products will supposedly give me 6 months of shampoo-ad worthy locks eh? *daydreams*
Oh yes... evil Wenie picked out a gorgeous dress at Warehouse and made me try it on... it felt sooo pretty! But since I'm more ritz bits than ritz carlton, I figured I'd hardly have occasion to wear it. I would have sneaked a photo in the dressing room too, but for the fact that I'm not quite ready to make my undies-flashing internet debut... the fabric was ultra floaty thin!
When I got home, poor baby was shocked by how much 3 of my autographs could fetch...
Total toll: 3 tops & a scarf from Zara, cardigan from Mango, and shampoo & serum from Kerastase.
Day wasn't over though. Called Wei over for a game of bball and I gave my bathtub a quick scrub to warm up whilst waiting for her. *beams with pride at short spurt of housewifey-ness*
She tried teaching me & Siang how to do layups(?) Siang was scoring points like he'd done it all his life by the end of the evening when we played 2 on 2 with Cheol... whilst I was mostly a mad spectator let loose on the courts. -_- But at least I got a decent workout... I reckon I'll be aching like mad when I wake up tomorrow!
UPDATE:
Good news is, no aches! Bad news? My bro has killed the PC in his midnight dissection experiment! *cries* Hope it gets resurrected soon... using my mom's laptop right now. K... off to work... taraaa!~ (OMG... did I actually say that? Cilla Black?!)
